  1. I was at a Holiday Inn (2.5 star Priceline) just outside Cincinatti which had no business center. I called Priceline to inquire what exactly is required for them to list their business amenity and they said .... "just a fax machine" ... that's it!!! So, do not expect too much...
  2. Montreal, Quebec ... it's honestly like visiting Europe without actually going so far and spending that much. United and Air Canada partner for flights so you may have a better chance for availability. I would also suggest other Canadian cities like Toronto, Halifax, or beautiful, beautiful, beautiful Vancouver!!! Canadian hotel prices are very reseaonable too. In the US ... I'd say Chicago ... we see great suburb hotels (Hyatt's) showing up in the high 20's low 30's.
  3. We have a smaller Canadian airline which usually has good deals to Toronto from LGA or EWR... www.jetsgo.net I put in the dates of your Toronto hotel purchase ... Oct 5-7 and it is only $52 each way ... with taxes $198 Canadian total from either airport.
  4. Thanks for the advice ... worse case scenario, having 8 rooms split between two nice hotels would work. I went to visit the Hilton ... they have a block booked for the Friday night... hopefully, some of those will open up.
  5. Tough weekend to bid ... I tried over 50 bids trying to get the best value at all star levels. I even tried to add nights to my Hyatt Resort acceptance ... and kept getting a firm counter for $126. For Freemont St. I started at $70 and kept getting a counter for $138. Your Offer Price: $127.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $254.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $34.91 Total Charges: $288.91
  6. I'm driving to Vegas (hopefully) to join some friends flying in. I split up the dates so we can get the best of both worlds ... the resort and than something closer to the strip for the first two nights. I bid $83 for NW hoping for the JW Marriott than added Henderson. I got a counter to add $22 and rebid $85, $90 and won at $92. Your Offer Price: $92.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $184.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $26.86 Total Charges: $210.86
  7. Thanks thereuare, I wonder if I can do it again with a better quality hotel ... I will have to hit the street and try and make a deal directly with a hotel.
  8. Well, theres times to be cheap and times not to be... I just cancelled my requests ... Priceline was very helpful and refunded without any fuss. I asked her flat out after my refunds were done ... why she could cancel these ... she said they have a list of particular hotels which have limited bedding/service issues that can be canceled ... very interesting!!! I am pasting the email I sent below. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I need your help!!! I booked these rooms for my wedding guests. The hotel unlike "normal" hotels does not provide daily cleaning/bed making ... my guests (as you can imagine) will hardly accept these ... I mean, how do I explain this to them ... you are away on holiday and have to make your own bed? Plus, how do I make two men sleep together in the single queen size bed. Any other two star "normal" hotel (like the ones listed in your 2 star examples La Quinta, Hampton Inn, Fairfield Inn etc.) offer two beds as an option .. or at least one large king AND I have booked countless Priceline hotels ... not once have I had to make my own bed ... it defeats the purpose of paying for a hotel. Please help. This is clearly unacceptable.
  9. Zone: Mesa 1920 West Isabella Avenue Mesa, Arizona 85202 480-752-2266 Your Offer Price: $25.00 Number of Rooms: 4 Number of Nights: 4 Subtotal: $400.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $61.60 Total Charges: $461.60 Whew!!! :) I just won 16 rooms on four bids (I used different names for each bid and my fourth bid was rejected asking for another credit card ... I guess, my CC company got suspicious about the consecutive charges of $461.60). I had to get enough rooms and (hopefully) at the same place ... these are for my wedding guests. I went to many local hotels and the rates were crazy ... cheapest was $50 for a Comfort Inn owned by a friend of the family. Hotels kept saying "sorry, it's peak season". I did try PL for resorts up to $52 (wishfull thinking), 3*'s up to $40 and 2.5*'s up to $35 ... the only acceptable zones were Chandler, Mesa, Tempe, or PHX ... I tried Phoenix North and Scottsdale for the fun of it ... but no bites at all. I had already bid 2 stars in a couple zones up to $30 over the past week ... so, I had some free rebids to keep bidding the 2 star level. Hotwire showed a 3 star (Holiday Inn Mesa) ... for $45 for 4 rooms ... however, I was too worried about being able to get more. My fiance's family lives in Chandler and the reception (Jan 30th) is in Mesa so the location of this hotel couldn't be more perfect ... although, quality-wise, I would have hoped for something better. I need to list the hotel on the invitations for the "paid for" guests ... so, this will have to do and the price savings .... WOW ... I :) Priceline!!! Homestead's actually have unique hotel-specific information on the acceptance screen ... even though they list "queen studio" ... the hotels only have a couple of them and they are not even listed on their website so, most of my guests should get their standard suites. I will pop over to the hotel today to double check. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A note about Homestead Studio Suites: Homestead provides a studio room with one queen size bed complete with fully equipped kitchen. Requests for bed type changes or other upgrades may result in a nominal fee upon check in. Other amenities include; a workspace with computer data port, voicemail and unlimited local telephone calls for only $1 per stay. There is also an iron and ironing board in each room and a guest laundry is conveniently located in the hotel. To respect your privacy, Homestead provides housekeeping services on a twice-weekly basis for stays of seven nights or more. For stays of four to six nights, a mid-week refresh service is provided. For guests staying 3 nights or less, fresh towels and linens are available upon request at the front desk, and additional housekeeping services are available for a nominal fee. Pets are welcome at most locations but must be supervised at all times. For more information on the pet policy and non-refundable fee, contact the hotel directly. Homestead front desk staffing in the evening varies by location. In the event it is necessary to check-in after the hotel's posted front desk hours, you may do so through the hotel's Night Service Agent on duty. Instructions are provided for after-hours check-in at the hotel. Important Note: A picture ID is required upon check-in at all Homestead Studio Suites.
  10. I visited the Hilton last March ... it is spectacular and the location can't be beat. Good luck in winning it. You may have a better chance at winning it by using priceline. The hilton still appears to be the only 4* in the area.
  11. This was a day before bid for a friend of a friend of a friend ... I first tried $42 and got a counter to add $12, dropped to 2.5* and rebid $45 and got it. Your Offer Price: $45.00 (US dollars) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 3 Subtotal: $135.00 (US dollars) Taxes & Service Fees: $19.73 (US dollars) Total Charges: $154.73 (US dollars)
  12. A friend of mine got this today for his parents .... he didn't follow the bidding advice I gave him as he was trying to win in the Sugarland/Southwest zones. Hotel may come up cheaper as this (West) was the last zone he added before winning. His parents will still enjoy ... reviews mention a free hot breakfast buffet. http://www.radisson.com/houstontx_west
  13. I'm new with photos ... If I have uploaded them onto ofoto.com ... can I simply cut and paste them to you if I no longer have the originals stored anywhere? Hmmmm was just thinking, I would love to take a few hours snapping photos at local Scottsdale resorts ... pop into a couple rooms etc. If we all did that for particular hotspots, we'd definitely have a great destination website. I just went to the Scottsdale Resort and Conference Center today for brunch, if only I had thought about photos earlier :) .
  14. Same thing happened to me .. in fact, same zone, same hotel ... was bidding for my uncle and after checking, my rate was the same as the hotel's own senior rate. There are not too many zones we see 1 star hotels come up ... and rarely an econolodge!! He had no complaints after his trip, hope it works out.
  15. thereuare, if you could please send me the taxi info as well, I'll pass it onto my friends coming there in Oct. thanks
  16. This has happened to me and a friend ... he was in Europe and his bank locked his card as a precaution ... he called me and needed a room urgently and the bids took forever before rejecting. To this day actually, the same thing happens when using his CC ... goes straight to that "up to 15 minute" screen and rejects everytime. Once PL blocks you, you are blocked for life. We tried calling them about his CC ... and PL was no help at all... With a flagged card ... you could bid a thousand and still not win a room. My own card was flagged way back ... had to apply for a new CC.
  17. Got this for my two closest friends visiting NYC from Toronto .... I was really hoping they'd get to experience the Hyatt. They need four nights and I'll try for something else for Oct 8-10 (Fri and Sat night). Hotwire showed lower rates for these two days $118 ... while the other two were $225. I bid $55 and was rejected. Your Offer Price: $37.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $74.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $17.19 Total Charges: $91.19
  18. For future readers/Princeton bidders ... be sure to try the large chicken Parm. at Hoagie Heaven :) (and see if you can finish it) ... I've done countless detours for that one ... This is a take-out place right downtown near the univ. ... prices are $3 to $5.
  19. My God!! Bill was such a wonderful person, he sent me a graduation gift from Asia last year. It's not going to be the same around here ... Thereuare, the donation is a great idea.
  20. My friend got this .... tried $50 and got a counter to add $14 ... rebid $58 and got it. Niagara Falls 6455 Fallsview Blvd Niagara Falls, Ontario L2G 3V9 905-357-5200 Your Offer Price: $58.00 (US dollars) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $58.00 (US dollars) Taxes & Service Fees: $10.20 (US dollars) Total Charges: $68.20 (US dollars)
  21. Oops, should have written "I swore". I always laugh when people write "bidded" instead of "bid" and I made a similar mistake
  22. I have dealt with the same problem a couple of times ... I called the the company directly and they were extremely nice and removed all charges. No fuss at all ... and I sweared that my friend had not clicked their link. My own case, I actually used the service, got a rebate from using PL and than called to get it canceled ... once again, no problem and they tool off all charges. They have an unconditional money back offer (or at least they did last year).
  23. Bid through savingsbarn for a friend ... tried $32, $35, $40 and won at $45 http://www.starwood.com/fourpoints/search/...ider_prefs.html Niagara Falls, Ny 114 Buffalo Avenue Niagara Falls, New York 14303 716 285-2521 Your Offer Price: $45.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $45.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $12.36 Total Charges: $57.36
