For some people back to school starts in early August, so people may be cramming their vacations in during July. I would bid higher than $140. There may be no inventory. You could grit your teeth and try back day after day or just go large and start a bid at $150. Some of the 4 stars DT Seattle are up to $400 on Priceline, otherwise anywhere from $248-$365. Some people have luck booking last minute for sure, esp since you just want 2 nites. But if you get something for $160 it is still a killer deal.

Prices could have gone either way for this stay - up or down. Summer, proximity to Yellowstone National Park ... Glad to get a room on Main St Bozeman, make my plans easier.

I can usually get a three star for $50, but at the height of summer this will be fine for a quick stop in Missoula. Bid three stars at $50 - nothing. Bid $43 and included *2.5. Property looks clean and new.

bid $50 for downtown Spokane added North Valley, kept the bid at $50 and got this hotel. Has a well reviewed restaurant The Max - will get in late and leave early, so suits me fine. Also, a convention center.

We don't do the Hotel parking, but opt for 24 hour access paid lots, like Standard pkg lot. The rates are cheaper and you can come and go as you like. Last year I think we did Standard at 7th and Pike - no problems. We pay for an entire week as we are there for a week, so there is a bit a savings there. Didn't see any suspicious activity, much nicer cars than ours parked in the lot. Took all valuables and shopping bags out. Seemed there was always an attendant. We had a hatchback and we parked it backwards, so that our hatch door was abutted against the wall - don't know why, but it felt safer. We came in very late a few times - no trouble. The valet thing is pricey, esp. adding in the tips. We were at the Sheraton and the garage was just a minute walk away. I had a hard time booking the dates 7/12 thru 7/16. Got impatient and booked on hotwire. If I had to do it all over again, I would start my Seattle PRICELINE bids at $150 for a 4* DT and work up from there - perhaps you would score something before hitting $160. For myself, the research and indicators seemed tricky to get a deal for July in Seattle. Maybe that will all change in a week or so, but I didn't take that chance and booked a stay on HOTWIRE for $159 at the Westin.

Took the easy way out and booked DT *4 for $159 (2 adults, one child). Only saved 19% but so glad to get the Westin and not the Renaissance.

I don't understand why people can't comment where they want? If people are naturally inclined to converse on winning bid posts, why all the effort to herd people to a new topic. You want new topics to be posted in the Forum section? If I'm looking at winning bids for a specific area and I see a winning bid with 15 comments I am going to be drawn there to read those. I like using this site, but it is rather hand slappy and that has been very noticeable to me over the past year. Maybe you should rethink how people are inclined to dialogue on the internet. I know you don't want chaos, but you seem to spend a lot of time trying to get rivers to flow in the direction you want. Frankly, it's weird.

I don't know if they want us to start a new thread or not. I have been having trouble trying to get the next four days of our trip booked for decent prices. We are a bit early for sure. But inventory is probably sketchy. I am going to bid for 3 days and see if they let me extend. If I can't get anything can always pay the $157 on Hotwire. I don't have nerves of steel and with a family, I don't like waiting until late, because of the unknowing factor. But, prices tend to go down closer to your dates, just don't know about consecutive days being all that available. It's all anybody's guess!

I did try to extend my stay with Priceline's offer to do so and my request to add three more days was refused. Priceline didn't give me the option to try again for less number of days, but directed me to their Sheraton special rate price page which was offering rooms for $145 a night. I entered my dates on that page and they said they didn't have inventory for the dates I wanted. I'm thinking they might still have rooms, but didn't want to book them for that price on those dates.

Winning bid for *4 Sheraton for 7/9/11-7/12/11 $129. Placed this bid on Friday 5/27/11. Started bid at $112 and went up from there. Had to toggle Downtown Pike Place, Downtown Space Needle and Lake Union area before bid accepted. I have four more days to book in Seattle for this same week and wait and see if prices come down in June. I got the Sheraton for $112 last year, so this is an increase. We like the Seattle Sheraton very much, so are pleased to get it and if we get it again for our next bid that will be fine.
