  1. This is a VERY tough night, and based on my efforts you will not have luck without going up to $300. I even went through my company reservation system and best I could find was the 1* Ramada for $227 + tax. I am couch crashing!
  2. Very tough weekend to get a cheap room with the holiday and US Open going strong. I have been trying that weekend for 3.5* up to $165 in MTE with no luck, which is up to 50% higher than other wins in the 3.5* range during August. So you can use that as your guide. There are some hotels offering a third night free promo (check my prior post) which actually works out to be equivalent of $170 pre-tax or so, and refundable. Make sure to use the PRICELINE link on this website and good luck.
  3. Hey caz26 here is a deal I just found which may interest you. Check out the Shoreham hotel, I don't know much about it but reviews are favorable and they are offering a "3rd night free" promo at a rate of $229. I just booked it. We were only planning on two nights in NYC but now we'll arrive late the night before and have a full first day. Comes out to $536.06 for three nights including taxes. Keep in mind priceline has extra fees which direct booking avoids. This hotel is considered to be MTW (or MTC on hotwire) - however it is between 5th and 6th on 55th which might as well be MTE. You can cancel the reservation 24hrs in advance so you may want to book it and see if you get a lowball priceline rate between now and then....that's my strategy. Good luck again! Note: After digging this is probably the Shoreham matching the below promo which has some great hotels. http://www.nycgo.com/thirdnight
  4. Fyi, I have been bidding for 9/5 to 9/7 in MTE for about five days now. No luck 4* up to $165 and 3.5* up to $155. I am unwilling to go higher because I can get a good refundable rate at 3.5* hotels around $195/night. I think you will need to go $180+ to stay near Rock Center at a decent place so the advice given by others here to stay in downtown or elsewhere is right on. I am using the PRICELINE link on this website and will post if I win. Good luck!
  5. Took several re-bids, this is a decent price though I am not a big fan of this hotel. $159 on hilton.com. With Cherry Blossoms coming I am pleased to get something reasonable. I used the PRICELINE link from better bidding, thanks for all the posts. Bid 4* $75 with two rebids to $85 Bid 3.5* $65 rejected then went to $75 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $75.00 Subtotal: $150.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $29.77 Total Charges*: $179.77
  6. Amazing this hotel is in the downtown zone, it is literally right off Dupont Circle. Really dumb cutoff for PRICELINE between those zones.
  7. Could not get this for $60 like some others. Price is over $110 less than $190 on Hyatt website. This hotel appears to be at least half empty so I am surprised I had to re-bid. Still a great deal for a nice room. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $77.00 Subtotal: $77.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $17.18 Total Charges*: $94.18
  8. Started at 4* MTE at $75, rejected with four rebids up to $85, reluctantly added Central Park South as my second choice area and landed this property. Final price is about 1/3 less than their website. I am pleased and I used the PRICELINE link from better bidding. This is a really good deal for any room in NYC, and especially considering the other winner of this hotel at $80 is on a weekend - which should be much less normally. These hotel companies must be quite humbled by the recession. Thanks! Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $83.00 Subtotal: $83.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $22.87 Total Charges*: $105.87
  9. I won the W at $225 for this Friday (8/29). PRICELINE offered me more nights at the same price so it should be an option for you...if you are looking to party this could be a good place to start and end with the US Open in town. Comes out to $270. May be small rooms but it has a bed and it's in a decent area.
  10. Started at $160 (based on what the other user got) and on the fifth rebid I got the W, very pleased! Same hotel is $450+ elsewhere. We are going to the US Open so I really wanted something on the East Side (a lot of the players actually stay here). I used the betterbidding link for PRICELINE to send some love back to this great website. Thanks! W New York Hotel Midtown East 541 Lexington Avenue New York, New York 10022 212-755-1200
  11. Have not used priceline or this website forever, glad to see it is still going strong. I cannot believe how cheap this was, listed for $299 on Hyatt's website. I literally just tried it for giggles, expecting to pay more for something further north. Grand Hyatt New York 109 East 42nd Street Park Avenue And Grand Central Station New York, New York 10017
  12. First bid accepted, 4* only selected. Your Offer Price: $53.00 Number of Rooms: 2 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $212.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $39.38 Total Charges: $251.38
  13. Bid $120 for 5* in MTE Bid $100 for 4* added MTW Bid $105 for 4* added UW accepted, Hilton NY Hotel is $249 on Hilton's website.
  14. Stayed 11-12 thru 11-14. Paid $51/night thru priceline. I have stayed at this hotel four times now with mostly positive experiences, the exception being a specific weekend when a huge, noisy high school "ambassadors" conference was in the facility. If you are considering I would call ahead to ensure this event is not returning! The location is not ideal but the parking situation is very favorable. I do not recommend using the pricey hotel parking lot. Directly across the street from the Wyndham on 16th and Race St's is a convenient, patrolled lot which only costs $5 for the entire weekend (including Friday nights). You can also park on the street for free around the hotel on Saturdays after 6pm and all day Sunday, but I wouldn't do so again because Philly parking enforcement once ticketed us for an expired meter when we know for a fact our car was not even there at the time they listed. If you write parking tickets and need to fill your quota I guess it makes sense, as it is unlikely an out-of-state driver will fight a $20 ticket. I definitely received a better room (King vs Queen bed, larger TV, living room area with couch) when I booked previously on Wyndham's website, but it was substantially more expensive. We spend little time in the room so it was of no concern. I agree with previous reviews that the rooms need a renovation, but they are more than adequate for a couple nights. The ByRequest benefits are also not offered when you book on priceline, so it is a tradeoff. Our room did have a mini-fridge (in addition to the mini-bar fridge) on this occasion which was a nice perk. They also gave us a 2pm checkout and in general I
  15. Very helpful website you run here, thanks for the tips. Tried 4* Philly Downtown on priceline then every region (because downtown is the only area with a 4*) for two nights 11/12-11/14: $43 rejected $48 rejected $55 rejected $61 rejected $69 rejected Then did 3* downtown and 3* with Stadium area (which only has 2* available): $43 rejected $51 accepted - Wyndham Franklin Plaza for two nights, $122 total. This was done today, 11/8/04.
