Meeting some friends in the WeHo tonight and booked the West Hollywood Hyatt for $95. I probably could have got it a dollar or cheaper. My previous bid of $90 was not accepted. For some reason I couldn't find anything reasonable through Hilton, Hyatt, IC, or Marriott as I prefer booking directly with the hotels than going through Priceline. Still sitting at the Starbucks here in San Diego and got OMNI for $90 + taxes and fees. The going rate on Omni's website seem to be $259. Highly inflated IMHO. I had hoped to get Grand Hyatt due to my Diamond status but I guess that OMNI is acceptable. I don't like the CP that can also come on this zone and thus I checked the IC website first and there was no cheap rates for that property for tomorrow night that normally would indicate that they don't have Priceline inventory either. This place is horrible. It was under some other brand couple of years back and used to come around $25 on Priceline.

It seems that they open Priceline inventory only few days in advance if at all. I run the query every other day or so and not have been successful for a while.

I decided to stay in San Francisco for an additional day and bid for Monday night and got the same Hyatt. The Hyatt got paid $68.02 + tax. It seems that they have mistakenly charged the room to my Mastercard that I gave at the check in.

Unfortunately no suite upgrade this time. As a Diamond member I did get the room from the club floor + the usual Hyatt Amenity of bottle of red wine and an antipasto plate delivered to the room. The regency club is quite nice at this location and I especially like the "honor" bar.

This was the lowest acceptable bid within a dollar. Started at $65, then $67 and finally got the Grand Hyatt at $69. We'll see what kind of room they give me as a Hyatt Diamond. Driving along the 101 to SFO for the weekend and thought that it would be nice to start from Oxnard-Ventura. Didn't have luck with that zone but the Marriott Renaissance Agoura Hills from where I am posting this is not a bad choice neither. If you happen to be a Hilton Gold or above you will receive a drink chit, breakfast coupon as well as "upgrade" to executive floor and free Internet. I have stayed at this property several time both on a Priceline and regular reservations (their weekend AAA rates are quite reasonable) and never paid for the parking so far. I have just parked outside and not in the garage. I have never admitted having a car, however. Maybe this tactic is not for a faint hearted. Overall very nice property compared to the Doubletree Club which is on the other side of the road that is a dumb.

This hotel opens up availability only 1 to 10 days before if at all. It is actually very close to full capacity most of the time.

Yet another win for this property. I always bid as individual nights. I believe that if your budget is $80/night you would have better luck with the 3 star properties or 4 star in OC. Also Priceline have merged West LA/WeHo/BH in to the same zone. If you bid 3 star you might end up Hyatt in West Hollywood, Crowne Plaza in Beverly Hills (or actually one block from Beverly Hills), or Doubletree in Westwood.

There is not WeHo zone any longer but rather West Hollywood/West LA. It is almost impossible trying to get the Hyatt if that was what you were looking for. You might as well get Crowne Plaza as I just did or Doubletree.

No. I didn't want to get the Westwood Doubletree or "Beverly Hills" Crowne Plaza that is not actually in Beverly Hills but the WeHo Hyatt. After the Priceline changed the WeHo/Westwood zone this has really become a gamble. I am actually Priority Club Platinum Ambassador so we'll see what benefits I will get when checking in tomorrow. The lowest rate on PC's website was $114.50 on Entertainment Card. My prior bid of $74 was not accepted. Tried to bid for these yesterday at the same price but no go. Suddenly today four different bids for the consequtive days went through without a hitch. Maybe I should ask from the sales rep of this hotel when they open up the Priceline inventory or then maybe not.
