Priceline Hotel: Help re:# of bids possible Miami 4* Downtown

Hi, I have read 'somewhere else' about the various 'permutations'? possible on a 4* Downtown Miami. There are currently 4 free rebid zones. I guess I do not quite understand the theory: how many times will I have to close my browser and 'start again'???

My first attempt at the various permutations system did not work! lol I must be mathematically-challenged. This is perhaps too complicated for me and I should just use my simple 4 free re-bid zones as I have in the past.

It looks like March 13 1 night stay, will be more $$ than March 23 2 night stay- by looking at various Hotel website/etc. sites. I also think it might be a bit early for PL to have the Hyatt available for an 'okay' price. I will keep trying though! Plus I better get a cancellable back-up hotel in place!

Please feel free to move this topic if I have posted in the incorrect spot. Thank-you in advance for any help you can give.

Yes I have tried bidding for the March 13 (and also put in higher bids than the other date (which is Easter Sunday&Monday) of course). I have started as low as $80 increasing usually by $5, lately increasing by $10 per free re-bid. I think the max. I have hit is $120.

I think our maximum to pay for a 4* Dowtown Miami for the March 13 date would be: $180. (If it takes more than that for a 4* Downtown, we may have to lower our Hotel Downtown Miami to a 3* and max.$140.)

I am more concerned with the March 13 hotel date and will post when I get accepted on the other date.

Someone from our cruise got the Hyatt for March 13 on PL for $191 plus taxes/fees. Hyatt website AAA rate is $251 and Hotwire is $239.

I always go to savingsbarn.com to get to Priceline before bidding!

Thank-you for any strategy help.

FYI everyone. Looks like inventory has opened up for March 13, 2008 on Hotwire($142) for the Hyatt Regency Downtown Miami. PLine Hotels it was $159 and on the BIDDING part of PLine I got a counteroffer at $125 + 22=$147. Also the Hyatt website was ?$160(AAA rate), and the Regency Club level rate was $192(AAA). I splurged and booked the Hyatt's website's Regency Club rate of $192.10 plus tax=$217.07.

IMPT:JUST went to Hyatt to check on the regular room rate on Hyatt to post this and it is back up to $251 and $291 for the Regency Club rate!!!!!!!!!!!!! LUCKY I took that booking!!!

If you are looking for that specific day like I was-keep an eye out for rooms becoming available!!???
