martyYYZ1
I've had really good luck checking priceline vacations to figure out which hotel I'll end up with - until nowI bid $40 and was rejected, then went to $50 and was acdepted at:Park Inn Milpitas Milpitas66 South Main Street Milpitas, California 95035 408-262-7685I arrived on July 8 into a dumpy area of town and checking in. The hotel was an absolute dump. I have stayed at a 1* Extended Stay with Priceline which was much nicer. Upon walking into the room I noticedsoiled carpetsdoors off hingesseveral chips in the wood on doorsair conditioner missing piecesgarbage outside of roomsoiled sheets on rollaway bedcouch was very old and soileddark dingy hall outsidesmoke filled lobbyThe place looked like a rooming house.I walked back down to the lobby and told them that I wasn't going to stay here and they could rent out my room. They said that I could call Priceline and try and get a refund.I called Priceline who called the hotel. The hotel GM said she would not isuue a refund so Priceline said their hands were tied. I also mentioned that they could not downgrade the hotel as they could not speak with that department.I'm not very happy about this but I'll write it up as a loss since I've had many great experiences with them. Needless to say, I won't be bidding on any 2* hotels again Link to comment

Colfax
Sorry about your bad stay.If you go back to Milpitas you can win a 3* there for less than $50 many nights. Thanks for posting this warning. Some posters here like the 2* Extended Stay in Milpitas and try to win it. Sometimes after complaints like yours Priceline will downgrade a hotel. You can check if they've downgraded the Park Inn by locating your reservation under the "My Trips" tab on Priceline's homepage. If they downgrade it to 1* your acceptance page will update and say "Congratulations! You got your price for a 1* hotel...." Link to comment
martyYYZ1
I thought I'd post a followup to this post.I informed Carlson hotels (the owner of this Chain and others) about my experience. They were unable to get a response from this hotel so they gave me hotel vouchers worth more than the entire value of my stay. Since these vouchers are also good at Country Inn and Suites (which is a much nicer chain of hotels IMO) and TGI Fridays. So although Priceline did nothing to help, it's nice to see that the management company did :) Link to comment
