u scared me. i thought i hadnt put a city.

no i didnt get any counteroffers.i havent bid lately since a few weeks ago since i had reached the max i wanted to spend.is it a waste of time to bid the same amounts hoping prices go down???

prices are around 200 euros for something flash. but a good 3* can be found for 80euros

its not high peak season but its not low season.

If you know it's a good 3* hotel and it's in a good location, you could easily do worse through Priceline (both in quality and location). The 80 Euro price sounds pretty good. Priceline is not the best deal for much of Europe.

Yes, it is possible that you could keep on bidding and not win until right before the end. That has happened to me elsewhere, and other posters too.

its a best western.

price is nearly double on best western page with cancellation conditions.how can they put best price garantee.

im also an entertaninment card holder(aussie one)entilties me to 50% off rack rate on listed hotels. i rang mecure notre dame nice and they also said 80 euros but to call a month ahead and book (only if they have vacancies)

dont like the sound of that though.iv never had n e luck on these deals. they are always full or some other nonsence.do you guys have this card?

I don't think the US version of the Entertainment Card has restrictions as far as how close to check-in you need to be in order to use the discount. However, usually there are better rates available than 50% off of rack rates (it's very rare for somebody to have to pay rate... only during times of very heavy demand).

the restrictions are case by case. not advertised by entertainment.

every hotel iv called are always reluctent to make a booking.either by sayings its peak(no discounts), entertainment rooms are full, we are no longer associates, rugby world cup, big conference on in the city etc etc.

We ended up staying at the Best Western Madrid next to the station in the city centre. We booked through franceguide.com at 80euros a night(no breakfast) plus a couple of euros city tax.

Location was good for us. 5min walk to the main train station. 20 min walk from the beach.

I regret not bidding higher on priceline for a 4* since the room was very average.

The photos on the website looked great but although true it was just very clever photography.

Room was old and in need of an urgent renovation.

Bathrooms where small and very mouldy. We had lots of trouble sqeezing through the shower doors .(my wife is 45 kilos)

We couldnt stop laughing at each other.

For a 3* you cant be to picky in europe but it was not what i expected from a best western.

The price for this type of quality was what rooms go for in nice as a walk in rate.
