Olang
Hi,I'm planning to be in New York for vacation on Oct 27-31. My budget is $200 a night. Since it's my first time to NYC, I don't really have a preference on where to stay. But I'd prefer it's close to the subway. Please help me with bidding tip on priceline. Thanks! Link to comment

Olang
I'm hoping for 3 to 3.5. I'm willing to pay for higher rated hotel within my budget. Link to comment
thereuare
While current rates suggest a 4* may be a bit of a stretch at $200/nite or less, did you want to that that first anyway? At the 4* level MTE, MTW, TS, CPS and ESB all typically work well for the average user.If lowering to 3.5* or less you can then add MSG to the mix, but it's also important to note the following:MTE - some 'known' hotels can be up to a 15 minute walk to the subwayCPS - has the Hudson Hotel, which while well located, has notoriously small rooms (~140 sq. ft.)If bidding 3.5* or less then you'll need to decide if either/both of the above are acceptable or not.Lastly, Downtown is often one of the least expensive zones, and most locations ahve decent subway access nearby, but it can be a 20-25 minute trip to midtown via the subway which makes this a less desirable, but certainly do-able, location... you'll also need to decide if you want to include this zone in your bidding (at the 4* level and or any other star levels)Please confirm the zone(s) and star levels you'd like to start with and we'll advise accordingly.Any other related questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Olang
If I can get 4* with $200 it will be great. I'm fine with MTE, MTW, TS, CPS, ESB and downtown. 15 minutes walk and room size are within acceptable range. Thanks for the help! Link to comment
