  1. Very pleased with this. Daughter's softball team has a tournament and they all stay at this hotel together. Regular rate was $113, team got a block rate for $88. I searched HOTWIRE, via Better Bidding, and found the following: Complimentary Breakfast Fitness Center Pool(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities (self-service) High-Speed Internet Access Golf Nearby I was pretty confident this was a match, rate was $57 so I went for it and it worked out. This will probably save us about $70 or so, thanks again!
  2. See, I told you I was a Hotwire rookie!!! Sorry about that, amenities as follows (spot on for Westin): Smoke Free Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Center Internet Golf Spa Also wasn't sure how to report this, but wanted to let you know that I used the "Add a Room" feature this morning and added a double occupancy room at the Westin for $105, came to $128.89 after taxes/fees. This is a very nice feature for people in my group's situation where one couple wasn't ready to commit at the same time as the rest of us. Very easy to add on and got quite a bit better of a rate (I'm sure due to 2 adults in the room rather than 4). Thanks again!
  3. My first career HOTWIRE, used board link. Needed rooms for a big group, going to be in town for casino day/Nickelback concert that night. Being that most of us are splitting rooms, I'm pretty happy with the rate. Rack rate on the Westin site was $249/room at the time that I bought ours on Hotwire.
  4. Used links on the board as always. My first PL in Cincy, lots of rebid zones to work with. I had what I'm pretty sure was the Hyatt pulled up on Hotwire for $64, so I started at $40 and worked my way up to my winning bid. I know this isn't the nicest of the 4* options downtown, but it would be hard for a reasonable person to argue with this price for a decent hotel in the downtown zone of a city. In addition, this is the eve of Opening Day for the Reds, which is why we are heading down and which is a very big event in Cincinnati. Really looking forward to this trip with my wife, also told another couple about the win and may be bidding/Hotwire-ing for them if they decide to join us.
  5. Very pleased to have scored the Hyatt for my family's upcoming trip to Baltimore and very thankful for the tips I've picked up here. Been bidding for awhile without success. Started tonight bidding for the 2.5* Holiday Inn Express in the Stadiums zone. Was unsuccessful at that going up to $90 so I thought I'd take another stab at the 4* hotels. Started with a bid of 90 and PL offered an instant rebid at 115 so I figured I might be pretty close. Added a zone and bid 94 then another and was accepted at 98. Priceline is selling this room for 269/night on these days, so I'm excited with the deal. As always, I used your PRICELINE link to do my bidding. We will be taking in the Reds vs. Orioles games on Friday and Saturday nights. We also have tickets to take a speed boat tour of the Harbor and are considering doing a few hours at the zoo at some point since we have free admission there. We are planning to leave town by Sunday evening, anyone have suggestions or can't miss attractions for my wife and I and our 13, 6, and 4 year old daughters? Also, I'm wondering if anyone is aware of an alternative to using the parking garage at the Hyatt? Apparently the rate is $27/day. I don't mind paying for parking when staying in major cities, but wouldn't mind cutting that cost down some if a city run lot or garage might be an option. Thanks as always for your help!
  6. Is it me or did the Virginia Beach zones change completely? I'm not as experienced at this game as most of you, I've only used PL and this site for one hotel, but I've been looking at Virginia Beach and it seems like the zones are now very different from what they used to be and from what is posted on the Virginia-PL Hotel List on this site. Thanks!
  7. After a few more days working on this, I ended up getting a room yesterday. Had been focusing on the NMA zone and went down to 3.5* and up to $84 and still no luck. Yesterday I started back up to 4*, bid 80 for NMA, added MP/Loop and bid 70, then did free bids of 75, 80, and 84. On the last bid I got a room at the Hilton. In adding MP to my 4* bidding, I was hoping to get matched at the Hyatt. That being said, I'm not disappointed at all, like I said, we aren't very picky. Our cost of 168 in offer price and 34.60 in fees comes in at 202.60 for the trip. Travelocity and the Hilton website offer the same room for 371.94 total. So even if I got impatient and didn't end up in the perfect spot, I'm still pleased with the experience so far. Thanks for the help I received on this bidding and learning about Priceline overall! Now to decide how to get there from NW Ohio (still debating between driving/bus/and train) and what to do with our time...should be great no matter what! Thanks again!!
  8. Update...did a round of bidding this afternoon. Tried a 4* NMA bid of 70, then 3.5* NMA bids of 60, 65, 68, and 70...all rejected. Should I try to keep re-entering similar bids or is it that unlikely to work at this point? Alternatively, I guess next course would be to creep up my bids or possibly add MP/Loop to my 3.5* bidding. Any other thoughts or suggestions? Thanks for your help so far!
  9. Hello, I just started reading yesterday and have learned a lot already. I'm planning a weekend in Chicago for my wife and I, 12-3 - 12-5. Definitely budget travel, no solid plans, probably mostly shopping, relaxing, dining and some sight seeing. We will likely be coming in to town by train or bus. I see that some downtown 4* hotels have gone for around our desired budget of around $70/night. Last night I did some PL bidding (used your link) on 4* MP/Loop hotels, 54, 56, 59, 61, 63, adding zones for each bid, all rejected. Tried these bids based on seeing the Hyatt go at similar rates on similar but not the exact dates. A few questions: 1. Based on what we want to do, should I try to stay in the NMA zone, MP/Loop, or would either work OK? 2. Is it reasonable to think I can get what I'm hoping for as noted above? 4* is definitely not necessary, we are not very picky, but would like to show my wife a nice weekend. 3. Was this PL bidding strategy executed correctly or should I make adjustments? Sorry if this isn't in the right place for this post or if I didn't included pertinent info. I'm open to any and all suggestions, thanks a lot! Brett
