  1. Searched 4 adults Sydney for 3/3/12 Came up with 1 hotel 4.5* Circular Quay The Rocks for $314 Amenities Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business Centre and High Speed Internet RESULT: HOLIDAY INN OLD SYDNEY Note this was 1 room for the 4 adults.
  2. Searched two rooms (4 adults, 2 children) for one night LAX area for Dec 01-Dec02 Search results gave 4* at $102AUD per night with following amenities Smoke free, Shuttle, Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business Centre, HIgh-speed Internet Better Bidding suggested this could be Sheraton Gateway or Possible Westin LAX Result = SHERATON GATEWAY, claimed 36% saving. On a side note, I see that someone secured the Westin for $84 or thereabouts for a September stay. Granted a different time of year and a different hotel, but I'm curious if anyone knows how much HOTWIRE rates might vary over the 8-10 weeks between making this booking and my family (I booked for other family members) actually checking in? That is, typically do you normally get better rates further out or at the last minute? Thanks Mike
  3. 3.5* New York (Chelsea and Maddison Square Garden area) 11/26/11 to 11/29/11 $204AUD per night + taxes = $245AUD/night 2 adults, 1 room Fitness, Restaurant, Business Centre, High-speed internet (amenities shared by Doubletree Chelsea and New Yorker in BB database) Result = The New Yorker A second room was also booked in a separate search for 2 adults and 2 children which came back with the same 3.5* and same amenities but a rate of $216.30AUD per night + taxes. This ALSO turned out to be The New Yorker. Refer to posts above for reasons why this was done separately. So I managed to get both my parents and brother's family into the same hotel. I just need to find the cheapest way of getting my brother's booking (2+2) extended a day earlier (ie checking in Nov 25). Edit: I should note that I have emailed the hotel and asked for a quote for them to check in a day earlier but have yet to hear back. ALso my parents booking (2 adults) came with the 'extend the stay' option but my brother's (2+2) did not have this option included. The bookings both displayed a little different mind you with my parents booking being quoted on a daily rate and my brother's booking being quoted on a total rate. THe confirmation emails also look quite a bit different.
  4. Created a new post detailing the outcome. Thanks Mike
  5. 4* White House - Capitol Hill area Smoke Free, Fitness, Restaurant, Business Centre, Hi-speed Internet (same amentities as currently displayed in Better Bidding list) 95% recommended ~$125 ($128 AUD) Searched for 2 rooms with 2 Adults and 2 children in each. 29 November to 1 December 2011 Result = Sofitel Lafayette Approximately 50% savings on this one if you believe the Hotwire claim ('Other sites $248')
  6. I'm trying to book some rooms for my parents and brother in New York ranging across the period Nov 25-Nov 29 2011 through Hotwire. Strange things are happening and I am not familiar with how hotels work in Hotwire. The particular hotel I had my eye on was a 3.5* in CHelsea-Maddison Square that had the amenities of Restaurant, Fitness, Business Centre and Hi-speed Internet. Based on the BB database I was thinking it was either The New Yorker or Doubletree Chelsea, either of which would have been fine. The problem is I cannot seem to get it appearing for both my parents booking and my brother's booking, which have overlaps as follows: Brother - Arrive Fri Nov 25 depart Tues Nov 29 2 adults + 2 small children (1 and 3) Parents - Arrive Sun Nov 27 depart Tues Nov 29 2 adults If I book my brothers on its own this hotel doesn't appear. If I book my parents on its own this hotel doesn't appear. If I book 2 rooms for the period of my brother's range the hotel appears (yet it doesn't work for only 1 room!) If I book 2 rooms for either 2 adults, 2 children or 2 adults only for 26-29 the hotel appears I want to get them all into the same hotel in this general area. Does anyone know if it's possible to say book the 2 rooms for the 26-29 period and then call the hotel and ask them if one booking can check in on the 25th (which Hotwire implies is fine for 2 rooms) and the other room check in 1 day later? Thanks in advance for any guidance.
  7. Amenities showing were as per Better Bidding current listing: Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business and Hi-speed Internet
  8. Booked the Westin Bayshore Mon 21st Nov to Thur 24th Nov 2011 for $96AUD per night +$20 taxes which came out to a total of $349AUD. An apparent 20% saving. 4* Vancouver Downtown West Amenities: Non-smoking, Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business Centre, High-speed internet, Tennis, Spa This appear to be the same as the first set of criteria currently shown in the better bidding list (i.e. list up to date). Thanks Mike
  9. This hotel did indeed turn out to be the Westin Bayshore, I booked it for three nights at the rate as shown here. Not sure about protocol (because I cannot appear to edit this topic) but I will create another post to state the hotel.
  10. Wow, that was over a year ago and an honest mistake. I posted my two results from other cities on that trip occasion. It would seem that you have a policy that every single search needs to be closed out otherwise no further assistance will be provided. I would recommend that you clearly state this policy in the front page post about Rules and Policies, who you are etc (which after just checking has no links to rules etc, even though it says that particular post - in the front page title description - claims it does) because it currently doesn't and this is the only place I would look. Regardless I have undertaken the task as requested.
  11. Just to 'close this out' I ultimately didn't take this one any further and ended up booking another hotel directly through it's website.
  12. I'm getting the following search results which looks enticing for my parents during their upcoming November trip: Downtown Vancouver West hotel $96AUD Amenities: Bed Choice, Non-smoking, Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business, Internet, Tennis, Spa Seems to be a match for the Westin Bayshore, which seems like an ok deal? Thanks Mike
  13. Hotel displayed as 3* with No-Smoking, Complimentary Breakfast and Laundry for a 2 adult search. Rate was $124US per night + taxes for $284 total
  14. For two adults I get the following: 4* $169/n Boutique, Shuttle, No-smoke, Breakfast, FItness, Rest, HSIA and Golf My guess is Magnolia as it's the only 4* offereing breakfast and is boutique
  15. From my other post I had indicated that searching Hotwire for Vancouver during the period Jul 29-31 (2 nights) yielded a particular 4* hotel with fitness, pool, restaurants, business centre, HSIA and Spa. Looking at the BB listings it appeared as though this was the Sheraton Wall Centre. Previously I had used 3 adults as the search criteria to ensure two separate beds. Thereuare suggested I use 2 adults + 1 child as the rate would usually drop. I tried this and the rate went from $145/n to $114/n. I decided to try my luck with this and it did indeed turn out to be Sheraton Wall Centre. Thanks for your help with this one Thereuare. Regards Mike
