  1. Just got back from Dallas. Some thoughts on the place: It really is a stretch to be in the Galleria area - it's about 15 minutes on a good day between the two hotels, but you have to pay a toll going in and out ($0.45 each way). Hotel exterior was quite nice, and the hotel room was very good - for the purpose and price (the convention hotel cost would have been $100 more for the three nights). Room decor was quite nice (particularly the bathroom sink), and the room was pretty large, at about 350 sq ft. (35 sq m). I was a little disappointed in the attention to detail with service for Select Guest members (mostly little things): a) Didn't get complementary beverages on first morning until I went to the front desk. :) No mint on third night, plus some glasses left from that day. c) No e-mail of charges that was sent. d) [more major] Lake area is under construction; very hard to find a place to jog. Most of the scenery isn't really good in that area. Minibar prices were generally $6 or so for alcohol, $3 for soda, candy, pretzels, etc. Gym was pretty decent; good amount of equipment (free weights, machines, and cardio) as well as some fruits. Also weekend duck feeding (Fri-Sun, 11 AM). Please let me know if you have other questions on the place.
  2. I don't know how the hotel treats Hotwire customers, but it was a very nice hotel, particularly if you get one of the rooms on the higher floors. (I stayed in the 15th floor there, and the view was amazing.) Be prepared, though, for a whole lot of uphill walking (unless, of course, you take the cable cars). Enjoy your stay!
  3. Turns out that my dad is using a rental car for transport (parking is very inexpensive, and it gives us a chance to visit "family friends" in Dallas. Therefore, no worries about transport.
  4. Hoped to get the Hotel Intercontinental, Dallas (Addison), because there is a conference there. Location: Dallas, North Galleria. (Southwest corner of Hotwire map) Cost: $55/night + $9.65 taxes/night. $194 total for 3 nights. I'll have a review after the conference. Amenities included: Restaurant, Pool, Fitness Center, Business Center Side note: Anyone know of a good, inexpensive way to get to the Intercontinental using public transport? Taxi will cost $25 x 6 (3 days, RT)... (Moderator: If I'm missing anything, please let me know. Thanks!) GPS
