  1. I wanted to follow up -- my stay here was great. The room was stylish and comfortable; I loved the hotel's location. I ended up travelling alone, but with my small dog. It was a good thing I got this particular hotel, since it's completely pet-friendly (no extra fees). I left a longer review on Tripadvisor and will try to get around to posting on this site's hotel review thread as well. The Hotel Monaco would be my first choice next time I come to SLC. The nearby Hilton looked to be a good option. I did a bit of walking around downtown (with my dog), and was less impressed by the outward appearances and/or locations of some of the other downtown hotels, such as the Marriotts, the Sheraton, etc.
  2. Just booked: 12 Feb - 15 Feb 2005 for $72 per night. Amenities listed were: "customer favorite," boutique, restaurant, fitness center. I had been browsing a couple days before booking, and was beginning to think this was not Hotel Monaco because the "boutique" icon disappeared temporarily. The (rotating) comments in the "customer favorite" window were very telling, mentioning "Aveda products" and "'40s decor." Incidentally, if you are a United Airlines Mileage Plus member, want to stay here, but are unable to find a cheap rate on Hotwire, you can book through the dining program ("Hotel Rewards by iDine") and get a rate matching the best available from the hotel web site, plus you'll earn 1,000+ miles per night. I would guess that the other downtown SLC, 4* hotel, the one with pool and biz center (but not boutique), that is available on Hotwire for similar travel dates, is the Hilton.
