  1. Thanks Aaron. The Hotwire deal which is likely to be the Jewel comes to the same total price after fees and taxes than if I book directly through the hotel website using their 7 night promotion. The deal I saw on Priceline a few days ago was cheaper. I made a cancellable reservation directly through the Jewel hotel website and will keep an eye out for better deals between now and then.
  2. A couple of days ago I had seen a Priceline Express Deal on my dates which was likely to be The Jewel, but this deal has now disappeared. Any chance the deal will come back if I wait a bit? I did really like the look of the Jewel and the location was very good.
  3. Looking for a 4* hotel in Central Park South, one of the Midtown areas or Rockefeller Centre Dates from 13 Oct to 20 Oct Budget $200 to $250 plus taxes, but ideally the lower the better Looking at these options on HOTWIRE, can you please ID 4* Rockefeller Centre $232 85% recommended Free Internet, Boutique hotel, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired, In-room accessibility, Wheelchair accessible, Accessible bathroom 4* Midtown East $199 85% recommended Pet friendly, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access
  4. I booked the 4* Lower East Side for $242 for the dates 20 Oct to 26 Oct and it was the NobleDen. I still need to find a hotel in the Midtown or Central Park area for 13 Oct to 20 Oct. I decided to split my stay so I can experience two different areas of Manhattan.
  5. What about these from Hotwire for 13-19 October? 4* Rockefeller Centre $232 85% recommended Free Internet, Boutique hotel, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired, In-room accessibility, Wheelchair accessible, Accessible bathroom 4* Midtown East $199 85% recommended Pet friendly, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access
  6. I am also looking at splitting my stay to experience two different areas. If I split my stay and search only for the dates 19 Oct to 26 Oct I now see this new deal: 4* Lower East Side for $242 Guest score 9+ Business Center No smoking Any insight into this one?
  7. Thanks. If I bid on Name Your Own Price, would I be most likely to receive one of the hotels currently on offer in Express Deals, or do they have different hotels on NYOP?
  8. I have researched the various areas a bit more and am willing to expand my zones as follows: Times Square - Theatre District Midtown East Rockefeller Centre Bryant Park Madison Square Garden Midtown West Hells Kitchen Central Park South Empire State Building Area Chelsea area Soho TriBeCa West Village Meatpacking (is this the area called 'Greenwich Village' in many other guides? Union Square East Village This should give us more to work with
  9. There is a 4* in Rockerfeller Center/Bryant Park for $192 Bed choice Business Center fitness Center non smoking Restaurant Any idea about this one?
  10. I booked the 4* Union Square East and it was indeed the Orchard Garden Hotel. The location is just what I was looking for, and it is a good price. Thanks for your help! I used the PRICELINE link in your signature and the discount code to receive 5% off.
  11. The backup reservation at the Shoreham was USD 2,916.83 for the 13 nights which is $224.37 per night inclusive of taxes.
  12. This is what I see: Price per Night: $245 Rooms: 1 Nights: 2 Room Subtotal: $396.00 Taxes and Fees: $93.98 Total Price: $489.98 You are correct that the math doesnt work out, but this is what I see, I have copied and pasted exactly. They must be displaying the "all in" price rather than price exclusive of taxes
  13. Re location, as well as the usual tourist spots I will be going to the theatre and going to many restaurants, most of which seem to be situated around the midtown/Central Park area. I would also like to be near shopping. So it seems that midtown/times square/central park area will be convenient for me and will save many subway trips, but I've never been to NYC so I'm open to suggestion. I have a backup refundable booking at the Shoreham while I search for a better deal. As you would not recommend either of those 3.5* properties I will look at the 4* in your previous post which I assume you would recommend more highly.
  14. Total price is $489.98, which is $245 plus taxes. Very strange! I have been bidding for 4* or above on Name Your Own Price up to $165 (excluding taxes) recently with no success.
  15. In the Bidding Helper list it displays as $198, but then when I click the link on Bidding Helper it takes me to the page and it shows as $245. I cant see any option to change the country, only the currency. Maybe I will just try again later.
