  1. There doesn't seem to be much availability in Boston (period) for that weekend. I too have been looking for something (Oct 9-11). Trying other sites (Orbitz, Hotels.com, etc. etc.) doesn't comes up with any thing that is downtown and <$200. With such little availability, I might just go with the ~$220 hotels from priceline. It is beautiful fall colors time in New England. It is a weekend. There is a convention in town that weekend. I've bid up to $140 for 3+ to no avail in the 3 particularly touristy downtown areas. The suburbs just don't seem all that convenient for a short touristy trip in downtown (I'm basing that on traffic and long commute times by train). We are actually considering scrapping the idea of Boston and changing to Salem or Plymouth since we just want to see pretty trees and a history lesson (Boston can wait). Best of luck and be sure and let me know if you find success. If someone out there expects a dump of convention hotel rooms and knows when and how that typically works, please let me know.
  2. I tried a bid of $78 for a 4* in Arlington (and all three 4* Arlington hotels on the hotwire and priceline lists are near a Metro stop), but did not win. I'm too chicken to try to rebid with other zones since I didn't want to destroy the savings by winning somewhere without transportation. Nor do I have the time to bid everyday. The Hotwire hot Rate was a steal and for a hotel just a few blocks from my meetings. I went with the $129 Hotwire hot Rate (~$144/night with recovery charges and fees). It was easy to match the amenities with the hotel lists provided here and see that it [Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Smoke Free, Hi-Speed Internet, Business] was the Westin Arlington Gateway. The $129 hot Rate is more than half off the going rate at this hotel ($299 from many many websites for my dates), so I am very pleased. This hotel gets very good reviews and is just a block or 2 from the National Science Foundation office that I need to go to. I used the HOTWIRE link from this site.
  3. I wish I could search for "4* DC (Arlington)". I guess "4*" and "DC" are too short and the result is an error message. Anyway, I thought I would just post this in the suggestion box as a want. Thanks for everything.
  4. 4* Downtown Toronto My bid of $50 was declined yesterday. I tried again today (same area and star rating) with $61/night and was awarded with the Westin Harbour Castle. I used the link to PRICELINE. Thanks!
  5. What is your recommendation for getting a great (>3*, fun location for shopping and sightseeing) hotel in downtown Toronto, with a POOL, for about $65 (or less, of course!)/night. I need one room for May 13-16 (3 nights). Thanks!
  6. Thanks! Your posted info helped me get the Hyatt Regency Montreal which is exactly what I wanted (based on the location and amenities). Hyatt Regency Montreal Hotwire Downtown Montreal 4-star Customer Favorite Resturants, Fitness Center, Business Center, High-speed Internet Access 18 kilometers to Dorval Airport $72/nite USD for Jan 3-5, 2005 Price at Hyatt.com was $148/nite
