I tried a bid of $78 for a 4* in Arlington (and all three 4* Arlington hotels on the hotwire and priceline lists are near a Metro stop), but did not win. I'm too chicken to try to rebid with other zones since I didn't want to destroy the savings by winning somewhere without transportation. Nor do I have the time to bid everyday. The Hotwire hot Rate was a steal and for a hotel just a few blocks from my meetings. I went with the $129 Hotwire hot Rate (~$144/night with recovery charges and fees). It was easy to match the amenities with the hotel lists provided here and see that it [Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Smoke Free, Hi-Speed Internet, Business] was the Westin Arlington Gateway. The $129 hot Rate is more than half off the going rate at this hotel ($299 from many many websites for my dates), so I am very pleased. This hotel gets very good reviews and is just a block or 2 from the National Science Foundation office that I need to go to. I used the HOTWIRE link from this site.
