  1. I'm hoping to use PRICELINE or HOTWIRE to book, but I'm particularly trying to get the Sheraton. There is a 2.5* being advertised for about $95 in Cuyahoga Falls-Kent that looks like it could be the Sheraton (but other places here say it's a 3*) The trip advisor rating is the same at 4/5... Amenities: Indoor pool(s), Fitness Center, Pool(s), Business Center, Laundry Facilities (self-service) What do you think - maybe I should just use the better bidding Support Page links and book direct? I've tried to do the research to find out the hotels, but most of the info for Akron and Cuyahoga Falls are older posts.
  2. 3* Chicago Suburbs (Oakbrook - Downers Grove) Holiday Inn Oak Brook $43 06/17/2012 - 06/18/2012 Used PRICELINE link. Started the bid at $30 at Schaumburg, 3.5 stars added Arlington Heights, upped bid to $35 added Oakbrook/Downer's Grove, added 3 stars and upped bid to $43, won the bid.) I saved maybe 39%. (It appears the best rate is around $73 for a standard room. I like the Downer's Grove area... Have not stayed in the Holiday Inn. Will report after my stay!
  3. Similar to other's experience, I found the Millennium Airport Hotel to be satisfactory for a one night stay. Staff were very courteous, and I received a room on the 4th floor. As others have noted, the hotel rooms are a bit run down and the hotel itself is in need of a large-scale renovation (furniture, carpet, everything). The beds and sheets are also in need of upgrading. Free Wi-fi and parking are excellent. It didn't even compare to a Best Western or holiday Inn Express level of quality in the room and even the hallways and pool. I would suggest that the star rating for this hotel be 2 or 2.5 but should not be a 3. (I didn't swim, but I did walk through the pool area - I'm fairly certain this was the backdrop for the movie "Beaver Falls.") I did not try the restaurants, but with the Walden Galleria right next to the hotel, it was unnecessary: There are plenty of nice places in the Galleria to eat at (Five Guys for a burger - phenomenal.) There is also a nice little pub at the mall entrance that leads back towards the hotel that you can wind down with a drink before heading back to the hotel. The best thing about this hotel is that is within walking distance of the mall. I'm glad I got to experience the hotel - thereuare is right, for the amount paid, it's not a bad deal by any means. But if you're "expecting" 3* upscale, I would say to lower your expectations.
  4. 3* Buffalo (Airport BUF) Millennium Airport Hotel Buffalo, $41 05/09/2012-05/10/2012 Used PRICELINE link saving approximately 60%. (Started the bid at $30 at Niagara Falls, added East Niagara and upped bid to $40, Started over, dropping the Niagara zones, chose Buffalo Airport (BUF) and upped bid to $41, won the bid.) Some of the reviews of this hotel are freaking me out. Will report back after the stay!
  5. 3* Chicago Suburbs (Arlington Heights) Sheraton Suites Elk Grove $33 1/5/2012-1/6/2012 Used PRICELINE link. (Started the bid at $30 at Schaumburg added Arlington Heights, and upped bid to $33, won the bid.) Happy New Year BetterBidding.com crew!
  6. Update: This hotel was a delightful surprise. The staff were courteous and friendly and were accommodating with requests. They had an automatic self check-in/check-out machine which worked well (though I do prefer approaching the hotel staff in person, this made for a good alternative if you didn't want to wait.) The room was spacious and clean. The TV console was EXCEPTIONAL - having access to ports for connection a computer was excellent. (I wish all hotels had this option.) Free wi-fi and continental breakfast was wonderful. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel to travellers who are looking for a comfortable stay in Schaumburg. Positives: Continental breakfast, free wi-fi, and a very nice room were provided. TV had console for laptop access. Near good shopping & amenities. Negatives: Hall carpets are in need of an upgrade. They have done away with vending machines on each floor but have a 24/7 canteen in the lobby. (It makes for late night snacks a bit or a production to get...) It also appears they've also eliminated the ice machines on each floor - yet there was an ice bucket provided. (?!)
  7. 3* Chicago Suburbs (Schaumburg) Hyatt Place Schaumburg, $40 12/07/2011-12/08/2011 Used PRICELINE link saving approximately 68%. (Started the bid at $30 at Arlington Heights, added Schaumburg and upped bid to $35, added Oak Brook, Downers Grove and upped bid to $40, won the bid.) (Hi thereuare!!! Just wanted to wish you a happy holiday season. You are AWESOME moderating this board!)
  8. 3* Chicago Suburbs (Arlington Heights) Doubletree Hotel Chicago Arlington Heights, $45 10/13/11-10/14/11 Used PRICELINE link saving approximately 57%. (Started the bid at $40, Priceline counter-offer $51, re-bid at $45 by adding Schaumburg area, won the bid.)
  9. Hi (I had put them in the topic title previously - is there a protocol on how to list the topic title?) Stay: 08/30/11 - 08/31/11
  10. Chose Oak Brook - Downers Grove area but got a 3 star hotel on the edge of Lombard area (North of Downers Grove, West of Oak Brook.) 3* Stay Inn Lombard Amenities Complimentary Breakfast, Fitness Center, Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access, Golf Nearby Expedia advertises this as $79 - I booked the day before I was to arrive for $56 through HOTWIRE though I tried to Priceline the area for under that to no avail. I'll admit, I was a little leery because it is not listed on this site, and surprisingly it's not on the line-up of "regular" HOTWIRE 3 star hotels. I received a King Study which was fairly roomy for one person with a desk, and a pull-out sofa. The place is clean, though there is a small tear in bed top cover. Free Internet access, parking and breakfast make the price alright for me.
  11. Hi - I'm not sure where to post this, but I would like to add a HOTWIRE purchased hotel to this list. This was listed as a 3 star hotel in the Oak Brook - Downers Grove area of Illinois (Chicago Suburbs). 3* Stay Inn Lombard Amenities Complimentary Breakfast, Fitness Center, Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access, Golf Nearby (Apologies if this it wrong place to post!)
  12. 3* Chicago Suburbs (Arlington Heights) Sheraton Suites Elk Grove $30 ... 8/23/11-8/24/11 Wow! I've used Hotwire many times over the past few years, but never had the courage to use Priceline bids. I've been watching better bidding.com for a while, and I've been amazed at some of the wins with bids people have posted. I'm proud to say I bid and won my first PRICELINE bid (using your link) and I'm excited to stay at this hotel due to the comments and good feedback from this site. As a student, this is an exceptional way to research places to stay and save quite a bit of money while travelling. I wish I had been braver earlier, but better late than never. :) Thanks to everyone who maintains and contributes to this site!
