MrB Posted April 9, 2010 Report Posted April 9, 2010 Used the Link of course! :) The drop in the pound has presented lots of 5* bidding options which I could not have looked at in prior years. I booked the Landmark at $135 and I am very happy with this but I also had lots of other options as well. Stopped bidding 5* Mayfair at $135 vs. offer of $168. Stopped bidding 5* Kensington at $135 vs. offer of $185. Both of these offers were originally offered at much lower prices than my last bid but I sense I am likely still another $10 or so away from snagging these hotels. I bid Regents at $135 next vs. offers of $147 and $150 at the time as I knew it would be the Landmark and wanted to stay there and in that area as that was where my friends were meeting before going to Wembley for the semi-finals that I was attending. I also bid Westminster for this date to $135 with no counter offer and Notting Hill to $95. I wouldn't go above $95 at Notting Hill as I didn't see any 5* hotels listed and was worried that a 4* that used to be an $80 to $90 winning bid may have been elevated to 5*. If anyone has information on what the 5* Notting Hill hotel may be please post it!
yellowdog Posted April 9, 2010 Report Posted April 9, 2010 Congratulations on your success!Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using our PRICELINE link to begin your bidding :) Enjoy your stay and Wembley.Yellowdog.
MadFlyer Posted April 11, 2010 Report Posted April 11, 2010 I never find these 5 stars at good rates the nights I need to be there. I always end up using www.lastminute.comThe 5 star could be the Hempel Hotel as the zone goes over to Bayswater. Could be more boutique hotels that might border on that zone on the south end.
