Luiz Posted April 9, 2010 Report Posted April 9, 2010 Hi, guys!I'm planning a trip to California next september, and I'd like to start booking the hotels. Is it too soon?If not, would you help me?I'm willing to get any of the 3-star or above hotels listed on this forum for the Santa Monica area, up to $140. Of course, I'd like to get low rates, because of the parking cost. Thanks!
AaronJB Posted April 9, 2010 Report Posted April 9, 2010 It's not too soon to start bidding for your stay, but I'd certainly start low, given that you have time to try low-balling a bid and seeing if any hotels bite. I'd start at $60 and work higher by $5's for a 3* in this zone. If you do wind up working up to $90-100 for a 3* (although hopefully a bid will be accepted before that point), you could stop and not go any higher and then wait a week or two and start over lower and work higher again. If you keep continuing to hit the $100 ceiling, then you could then decide whether or not to head higher or look into alternate ideas. Again, at this point in time though, I'd start low. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Luiz Posted April 19, 2010 Author Report Posted April 19, 2010 The follow up:Used the PRICELINE link and started @ $60, The next day, raised to $65, but didn`t realize I was using my priceline rewards from my previous NY purchase. My $65 (in fact, $75, due to my reward) bid was accepted by 3* Courtyard By Marriott Marina Del Rey. Not really in Santa Monica, but that`s fine for me. Specially because of the Free Parking, wich will save me a lot of money! All in all, I think it was a great discount. Thanks for the advise!
AaronJB Posted April 19, 2010 Report Posted April 19, 2010 Congratulations on your success. :)Glad to hear you were able to get the hotel you were hoping for, and free parking is certainly a great bonus these days.Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using the site's PRICELINE link.Enjoy your stay.
