MrWalton Posted April 7, 2010 Report Posted April 7, 2010 I have looked through the forums and see that before, Priceline allowed bids for 3.5 and 4 star hotels in the USVI. Now, it seems they only have up to 1 - 3* and resorts. There are no offerings for 3.5 or 4* in any areas. For my dates (starting May 8th), I can book the Best Western Caribe for $98 if worse comes to worse.... but for slightly more money I would prefer a nicer place. The bidding strategy I have used so far:- Use link from this site- Bid for St Thomas resorts- Add free rebid at St Croix (they have no resorts)So far I have gone up to $110, which is higher than the price people had previously gotten the Marriott. Hotwire shows 3.5* at $159, 3* at $179, and 4* at $297. Any suggestions to strategy changes? I am willing to do 3* if it is a good 3*... but if it is similar quality to Best Western (2*), I'd rather just keep the cheaper, refundable (if 72 hours in advance) rate. Thanks!
AaronJB Posted April 8, 2010 Report Posted April 8, 2010 Rates do vary quite a bit by dates and what users were previously able to get a property for may not reflect what it requires for your dates. What would be your desired max budget for bidding on a resort? Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
MrWalton Posted April 8, 2010 Author Report Posted April 8, 2010 I'm willing to go to $150 all-in (including tax and fees). I am just a little surprised / disappointed that the option to bid 3.5 or 4* on Priceline no longer exists. :)I suppose I will keep raising the bid for St. Thomas Resort, then getting a free rebid on St. Croix until I hit my max.
