I found a 4-star Near Strip East for $73/night for a stay on 8/26-9/2.

Amenities are: Casino, Restaurant(s), Pool(s), Fitness Center, High-Speed Internet Access, Business Center.

It is listed as a BEST VALUE.

Might this be the Westin?

The above Hotwire hotel is a match for the Westin and that is my best guess as to this hotel's identification.

My opinion is that it is too early to lock-in a non-cancellable reservation in Vegas this far before your check-in. You may also want to consider SPLITTING YOUR BID given the drastic difference in rates during this stay (as is often the case in Las Vegas when a stay includes mid-week and weekend nites)

Yes, I know it is early for a nonrefundable trip, but I am going for a very big convention and the rooms fill up very quickly and get very pricey. Id hate to miss out on a great rate, and I think the Westin is a decent place. I'll wait it out a little bit though.

If I were to split, should I do the weekend separate from the week? I read your descrition, but am not otherwise familar with the process.

Rates do not look high for these dates... where is the conference hotel, or is it at the convetion center?

(we always recommend a fully cancellable back-up while you're monitoring rates... at least if they go up you've locked something in that you can live with)

yes, its at the convention center. most of the places Ive found, even the average places, are over $100 night. Id like to stay somewhere decent for less than that...or at least find something nice for a little more for 8/25-28 and somewhere a little less for 8/28-9/2.

8/28-9/2:

Imperial Palace at $59/nite

Excalibur at $69/nite

Monte Carlo at $89/nite

Current EASYCLICK policy is that reservations are refundable up to 72 hours before check-in date... complete terms will be given during check-out. (5 days for on-site disney properties, which doesn't apply here, but may help somebody looking in Orlando from making a mistake :) )
