Planner Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 I figure on using HOTWIRE as the occupancy can be tweeked to 2 beds. I figure 250/day to be the approx. max. I like the museums while my wife becomes nauseated by them and hence prefers shopping. We'd meet in the late afternoon to plan for a meal or play. I'm happy to use the subway, da wife may not be as comfortable but can be trained.I plan to surf this site, tripadvisor and Expedia but would appreciate any thoughts from the pros on this site.
ferka Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 Hi!Why don't you try with homeaway?I used it for NY accomodation due to tripadvisor NY hotels reviews (too exprensive and not very clean). For other destinations I bought at hotwire sucessfully. For hotwire compare % recommended and areas with Hotels.com, you can almost get the exact hotel.Good Luck :)
AaronJB Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 Are there only 2 people in the party? Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Planner Posted April 6, 2010 Author Report Posted April 6, 2010 Just two adults. I plan state in my reservation request that 2 adults and 1 (non-existent) child are in the party, so that 2 beds are likely.
AaronJB Posted April 7, 2010 Report Posted April 7, 2010 If you search for 2/1 on HOTWIRE, you will likely be presented with less options, given that many hotels There is a "Stay 4 Nights/Get 2 Free" non-refundable deal via Starwood - the Westin is $329 a night for 7/2-8, w/2 nights free = $1316/6 = $219 average per night. This is for an upgraded city view w/2 beds. You could then either book regular rate for the last 2 nights at the Westin or book a different property. Please use the link below for this deal:Stay 4 nights, get 2 freeHOTWIRE has a 4* TS w/fitness, business, restaurant and internet for $209 (when searching for 2/1), which would appear to be the Crowne Plaza. There's also a 4* in MTE for $190 with the same amenities, which I'm guessing would be the Omni. There's also quite a few regular rate hotels under your max on Orbitz, and coupon codes WELCOME10 or FABSAVE10 may work for an extra 10% off. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE or Orbitz links to start your purchases and searches.
Planner Posted April 7, 2010 Author Report Posted April 7, 2010 When I use 2/1, I see a TS-theatre district room for $206; i don't see a $209 TS ? Also MTE I have is at $199 not the $190 you see. I wonder why? Aaron I do see a lot more hotels available if I use 2/0 but I suppose then I may not get 2 beds?
AaronJB Posted April 7, 2010 Report Posted April 7, 2010 Rates may be slightly different from user-to-user. There are definitely going to be more and/or other listings available when searching for 2, although 2 beds would not be guaranteed (they could be requested, but the hotel could definitely - especially in NYC - say no.)Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Planner Posted April 7, 2010 Author Report Posted April 7, 2010 I used the Hotels.com link listed above and found an older 3* with 2 dbl beds just 3 blocks from Central Park, prices were great and I have a cancellation policy. Its what I was looking for and this board helped significantly in the process. Thanks.
AaronJB Posted April 7, 2010 Report Posted April 7, 2010 Which hotel did you get?Additionally, if this hotel is on Orbitz, coupon code FABSAVE10 or WELCOME10 may take an extra 10% off. Please use the site's Hotels.com, Orbitz.com or Expedia.com links.
Planner Posted April 7, 2010 Author Report Posted April 7, 2010 The Wellington. I did use your Hotels.com link from this site! FYI, I tried the codes for the same dates for Orbitz but they flopped. The deal with the Welly is already at 30% off for >3 day stay.
AaronJB Posted April 7, 2010 Report Posted April 7, 2010 Thank you so much for using the site's Hotels.com link! Enjoy your stay.
