Hotwire Hotel: 4* NYC (MTC) Warwick

Also, I just checked my dates 4* UWS and compared the "circled UWS location for the Negotiator universe" with the hotels indicated as "4* in the "regular" PL universe". By looking at actual street location, I find that there is only one 4* hotel in the area according to the regular map. I am a bit confused, because I gather that if use the Negotiator site and my bid for 4* UWS is accepted for my dates, i would expect that the hotel name would undoubtably be the empire hotel.

I'm not trying to get a specific hotel, but am I researching incorrectly? I would think that the system would be set up so that you couldn't bid on * and location combo that results in only one property. Should I not be comparing the regular and negotiator maps and * ratings? I think I read a post that somewhat addresses this, but can't find it now.

Thanks!

Last night I took a leap of faith and tried out the PL Negotiator. No success. Even with being flexible and expanding my search areas to 4* in all surrounding areas, including 4* locations other than my prefered UWS and TS, I couldn't get a bid of $210 accepted. (the only area I didn't pick that had a 4* was Downtown SoHo and ESB, didn't want to risk those outer areas). I already was beyond my goal budget and anything higher is not an option for me.

Summary I did the Hotwire $195/night ($232/night tax incl) 4* with 85% reccommended customer reviews - and got Warwick Hotel in Midtown Central. seems good. above my target budget, but the best I could find!

A little annoyed because today I see the same criteria for my dates posted today available at $189 - grr. I'd rather have this and wonder if its the same hotel because of the same 85% rating.

I still got a deal when you compare to hotel's website - $370/night tax incl. But it's irrelevant to me as I see that hotwire is promoting the same area/criteria at $189 today - guess it's a new day new inventory!

Thanks for having this board up - it was helpful.

Congratulations on your success and Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

Sorry to hear that PRICELINE bidding didn't work out for this stay, but glad you were able to get an excellent deal for this well-reviewed, historic NYC property. Can you confirm the amenity icons that were showing with this property?

Given how rates seem to be gradually heading upwards for the Spring period, I think this may prove to be an even better deal closer to the dates. In terms of the somewhat lower price on HOTWIRE, there is frequently some variation in price throughout the day, both up and down.

The Empire has been the only 4* reported to the board in the UWS area, and I believe it's the only 4* in this zone, although new properties can appear at any time. The On the Ave is 4* on HOTWIRE, but is considered a 3* by PRICELINE. There are definitely times when there will be only one property at a particular star rating in the service. There is no guarantee that there will be Priceline inventory for the particular set of dates, but in a case like the Empire, you may only be bidding on one possibility.

Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using the site's HOTWIRE link.

Enjoy your stay.
