Hey guys,

Going to NYC 4/15-4/17 and would like some help. It will be my first trip to NY and im looking to spend no more then $150 + taxes for a room. I am not sure which area to stay in as i've never been to NY. I just want a clean room that is close to the tourist stuff (Times square, broadway, chinatown, etc). My wife is pregnant so will be taking cabs everywhere hopefully. Any help would be great. TY.

Please follow-up your previous Priceline Tampa thread with whatever you ended up doing for that stay... then bump this thread and we'll have a look at the above.

Yellowdog.

PS. Allways follow-up your threads with whatever you end up doing, even if you chose to book direct, cancell your trip, etc.

Are you looking for a 4* (which, if accepted, will likely come in towards the top of your budget range) or a lesser property in an attempt to come in cheaper than your max?

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

Hi Aaron,

I'd like a 4* if possible in my range, i could even go up a bit if it meant getting a nice place. My main thing is that its just a really clean hotel. My wife is pregnant and she has a thing with everything needing to be really clean heh. Im just not sure what area to even try in as ive never been to NY (from reading some threads maybe MTE/MTW?). We are just going to do the typical tourist things.

A 4* is probably going to require $150, and possibly higher. You could try $140 for a 4* in MTE, if not accepted $145 for 4* MTE/MTW and if that isn't accepted, try $150 for a 4* in MTE/MTW and TS.

There is what appears to be the Millennium UN showing for $134 on HOTWIRE; while a great deal for a well-reviewed property, it is a bit out of the way in MTE (it's far East in MTE, or, better yet, it puts the E in MTE.) If you were walking everywhere, this may be a problem, but if you're planning on using cabs heavily, this isn't a bad deal and, given the $134 HOTWIRE rate, you could try a lower bid on PRICELINE for a 3.5* in MTE ($115-120; the Millennium UN is a 3.5* in MTE) to see if you could get under HOTWIRE's price.

When bidding for a 4* hotel in NYC you have FIVE such re-bid zones available. You can learn more about re-bidding, and most importantly how to determine your re-bid zones, by reading this thread: Priceline Re-Bidding Explained Please read this previous thread and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones before bidding (highly recommended you confirm your re-bid zones with the board before bidding if you're new to the concept)

For your last round of failed bids, which zone(s) did you include and how high did you bid? I would think that at the 4* level MTE, MTW, CPS, and TS would all be fairly convenient for your needs.

Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.

Let us know regarding the zone(s) you're willing to accept and we'll advise accordingly.

PS- congratulations on the upcoming addition to your family :)

i didnt include CPS as i thought it might be to far north of the main tourist areas? It's my first visit to NY so i'm not to sure of the distances :) All i know is that it was far from china town/little italy and chelsea market and those are 2 places that are can't miss for me.

for rebidding, i have been adding Long island, Chelsea area, and Madison square garden. My 24 hours should be up soon, so going to try again tonight, hopefully i win something :)
