Hemikiwi Posted April 5, 2010 Report Posted April 5, 2010 Newbie here, so hope my question is okay. I have accommodation for 2 nights of a 3 night trip in Cologne, but having difficulty Priceline wise to secure a room for 1st June 2010. I looked at all the successful bids for Cologne 5 star, and they seem to range from $54 to $65 dollars for a nightHowever, i have been incrementing my bid from $56 to my last bid of $78 and still no luck. Not being asked to up bid by x amount, just a no! Any ideas? or suggestions? I know I have a lot of time left, but just want to get the first day I arive in Cologne booked!
yellowdog Posted April 5, 2010 Report Posted April 5, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding!Rates are date specific so you can't allways compare past/future wins with you dates.Marriott and Renaissance are the most frequent 5* hotels reported to the board. Have you checked the rack rates/PRICELINE rate to determ if you bids are realistic for the dates?Let us know how we can help you further. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Yellowdog.
Romelle Posted April 5, 2010 Report Posted April 5, 2010 One of the last Europe hotels on which I bid never gave any counter-offers. Just all of a sudden one day my bid was accepted. You don't always get those counters.Expedia (link from here under the support page) can be another quick way to check day-by-day rates. You can enter a range a dates, maybe starting a day or so before the problem day and a day or so after, and then see if the rates for your day are unusually high.Romelle

I will also use your link. Cologne hotels seem quite reasonable compared to dutch ones! I dont want to end up bidding higher on priceline than i would get through another discount site!!
