santabanta Posted April 3, 2010 Report Posted April 3, 2010 Hey folks, Heard lots about this site so came to join and see if I can contribute some experience and $ to betterbidding if I save enough :-)Looking for a deal at a 4* or higher property to stay at Waikiki Beach from Apr 27th-4th May, 2010. Budget around $90 or so(from what it looks is the average from other posts here). Please advise a strategy so I can score a really nice one. want to surprise the wife as she is suspecting that I might CHEAP OUT on the accomodation. ;-)Please save this newbie..
yellowdog Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding :) Have you tried bidding? If yes, how high?Dates are rate specific. So the past/future wins you're looking at might not be the ones you hit at.You can always check the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins for your dates.Let us know how we can help you further.Yellowdog.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
AaronJB Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 One other suggestion would be to look into HOTWIRE; while a bit more expensive, one can make an educated guess as to what's showing - may be a good idea to see if you can get a particular property that you think may impress versus rolling the dice with PRICELINE.
santabanta Posted April 4, 2010 Author Report Posted April 4, 2010 So it seems like Hotwire would be approx $10 more compared to to Priceline for the same dates from what I see according to the calendar of previous wins. I just looked at Hotwire and it shows the following:Price $1194-star hotel in Waikiki BeachThis hotel features the following amenities:Near Beach Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities High-speed Internet Access Recommended in 85% of customer reviewers 100+ total reviews CloseOverall satisfaction 4.5any ideas? would u suggest I use Hotwire instead of Priceline?
AaronJB Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 My guess in this case would be the Marriott Beach Resort. The site's list of reported HOTWIRE wins for the state can be found at this link.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
BrianD4 Posted April 5, 2010 Report Posted April 5, 2010 With a price of around $90-$100, you might have luck on those dates with the Hyatt, Marriott, or Sheraton, all resort-class hotels. For $90, I think you would probably be a lock for the Prince (4 star) (on the edge of Waikiki by the harbor).
