Ducks4Life Posted February 7, 2005 Report Posted February 7, 2005 Great site!2 guys going to vegas for a weekend trip. I know that's obviously the most expensive time, but thats when we're going. What would you guys say would be an expected price for a 4 star on the strip per night through Priceline? What would you start your bidding at?Also, is there any strategy to try and get one of the 4 stars other than the westin (would prefer to be actually on the strip, buts it not a deal breaker) that are known to be sold through Priceline?Any advice would be appreciated, and I'll let you know what we end up booking.
thereuare Posted February 7, 2005 Report Posted February 7, 2005 Welcome to BetterBidding!Rates are high for the above dates... do you currently have any reservation or back-up plan? You may also want to read this post in the meantime: Las Vegas and PricelineRest assured we'll try to help you find a great deal. Ducks4Life Posted February 7, 2005 Author Report Posted February 7, 2005 Thanks for that link! As of now we don't have any reservation, kind of a trip that came together at the last minute. We've seen some decent deals on the web for friday night (Mirage and treasure island come to mind), not so much for saturday.
thereuare Posted February 8, 2005 Report Posted February 8, 2005 Do you have a maximum bid in mind of how much you were willing to pay before you said "forget it" we'll stay at a lower quality hotel? To get a deal are you willing to change hotels each nite? (aka - Split Your Bid) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Ducks4Life Posted February 8, 2005 Author Report Posted February 8, 2005 We considered splitting the bid, but in the end decided we wanted to stay at the same place both nights. My buddy is getting a little nervous about bookign something, so right now it looks like were going to book at the excalibur both nights (3 star I think?). Friday night is showing at 85, jumps up to 210 for saturday. In the end, we just didn't want to stay at the Westin, so we didn't end up bidding on 4 star. We bid 5 star up to $160 a night, but that was rejected. I'd guess they would have taken that (or lower) for friday, but not saturday. Since we decided to stay at the same place both nights (we like to party, and the last thing I want to do is get up with a screaming hangover and change hotels), excalibur seemed like a decent deal. Imperial Palace is showing $123 per night. What would you say between those 2, or would you suggest something different?Oh yeah, I think we'd probably like to stay under $150 a night average, which is right were excalibur is coming in.
thereuare Posted February 9, 2005 Report Posted February 9, 2005 A few years ago this choice would have been easy, Excalibur hands down. However, the reviews of the Imperial Palace have improved tremendously over the last year (just scroll back far enough and you'll see the negative comments) and now it's a much tougher choice i think.Personally i like the area of the Imperial Palace best as it's my favorite part of the strip, but since you like to party a lot, you may like the location of the Excalibur better since it's near a lot of the 'hot clubs' of the Palm, Rio, Mandalay Bay, etc. For comparison purposes, here are the reviews of the Excalibur, but for my taste it's a bit too childish. ssmbandit Posted February 9, 2005 Report Posted February 9, 2005 Call the Imperial Palace and see if you can get the "Casino Gold" package. It's only $85 per night weekends and $65 weekdays. They also just came out this weekend with the "I'm a Winner" package. Try this link and see if you can get a better deal than you've already found: http://www.travel2vegas.com/latimes.html
Ducks4Life Posted February 9, 2005 Author Report Posted February 9, 2005 Hey thanks for all the help guys, here's what we ended up doing: We nixed both the IP and Excalibur (I agree, just a little to kiddy for us) and got a room at Monte Carlo both nights. Booked through their website for, I believe, 129 friday night and 189 saturday night. A little more expensive than Excalibur, but a little nicer from what I've read. Thanks for all the help, and i'll be back here before my next trip. (actually a trip in the works for the last weekend of feb already!)
