Diane6766 Posted March 23, 2010 Report Posted March 23, 2010 Hoping someone can help me identify this 4 star with a 75% approval rate:restaurant, fitness center, business center, hi-speed internet, spa servicesWas hoping for Harbour Castle, since we have stayed there before and loved it, but the 75% approval rate makes me think this is not. Any ideas??FYI, my bid is for July 10 - 14 and the amount is $79/nightThanks!!
Diane6766 Posted March 23, 2010 Author Report Posted March 23, 2010 I did a bit of research and suspect this may be the Sutton, due to the 75% approval rate. Think we'll wait it out a bit -- have stayed at the Sutton before, and found it to be perfectly fine, but prefer to be closer to the harbourfront.

yeah Posted March 24, 2010 Report Posted March 24, 2010 When searching for a 4 star in Downtown Toronto East, I was getting the same results as you. My HOTWIRE search was a room for two adults and I got the same hotel, 75% approval rating. When I added a child or two to the HOTWIRE request, I then received the hotel with a 90% approval rating.
Diane6766 Posted April 2, 2010 Author Report Posted April 2, 2010 Tried for over two weeks going up to $88 with free rebids, but no takers. Finally got a counter on a $80 dollar bid to raise it by $22 -- declined, and rebid instead $11 higher and was accepted. Have stayed here before and love the hotel, but was hoping for a different property due to having to pay the extra $20 for the bed choice. But still not a bad price for height of the summer. (Still can't believe last summer we got mid-July for $58 at the Harbour Castle!)Still need Toronto for July 1 - 4, have gone as high as $93 with no takers. Pretty sure I'm going to have to go over $100 for these dates....

MelP Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 Still need Toronto for July 1 - 4, have gone as high as $93 with no takers. Pretty sure I'm going to have to go over $100 for these dates....Past years' history says not necessarily, and conventionally booked prices are currently not unusually high. It looks like it's more the hotels holding onto their inventory longer because it's a holiday weekend with some special events, so it may be more like patience is in order. If you are set at that star level, then perhaps get a cancellable backup reserved - I bet you will be successful eventually at under $100 but it may not be until it's a lot closer to the dates you need. I was bidding DT Toronto 3.5* and 4* for those exact dates too with no joy, dropped down to 3* because I have no patience :), and did manage to score something that actually works better for me. :)
