firsttimeNY Posted April 2, 2010 Report Posted April 2, 2010 Hi, I will be traveling to New York for the first time from 10th April 2010 to 13th April 2010. I have heard many recommendations on priceline therefore I tried bidding in priceline since Monday this week (29th March 2010) until today, but still not in luck. The areas which I am targeting for are within Times Square, Midtown West and Midtown East (4*). Daily I started my bid with $160 and went up to $185 but has yet been successful. Is this the average price to bid during this period? I would like to seek some advice on how can I increase my chance of winning a bid within my budget around these zones. Are my chances of winning the bid reduced as it is closer to the date? Looking forward for your advice as I only have another week to bid before I arrive in New York. Thanks! :)
AaronJB Posted April 2, 2010 Report Posted April 2, 2010 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)I definitely don't think you're very far off; the cheapest of the regular rate 4*'s are not too far above where you've bid, and HOTWIRE has a 4* in MTE for $210. This close to the date/s of travel, I don't think prices are going to come down much. I think MTE is probably your best bet - if you were to increase your bids, I'd increase by $2-3 each time instead of $5 (If you've bid $185 for a 4* MTE, next try $187, $190, $192, $195, etc, but given the $210 HOTWIRE listing, I can't imagine the magic number is too much higher than you've already bid.)Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted April 2, 2010 Report Posted April 2, 2010 Are you familiar with re-bidding? (see re-.bid) If you're new to this concept it's highly recommend you confirm your re-bid zones with the board before adding re-bid zones to your bidding. As well, is there a reason you're avoiding the CPS and/or ESB zones? In addition to the zones you're already bidding, these zones have been fairly convenient for the average visitor too. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
