Booking a Mini-Van - YYC

If I am successful on bidding on a Mini-Van am I guaranteed a Mini-Van when I arrive to pick up the vehicle or could it be substituted? Thanks for your help

You're "guaranteed" a mini-van in so far as the car rental can guarantee such a vehicle.

Let's assume the rental location has 10 mini-vans, 3 are scheduled to be available for your trip and you reserve it... one previous renter doesn't return the vehicle on time, another decides to drop it off at a different location, and a third is in an accident and taken out of service... what is the rental company to do? :)

Thanks for your quick reply - if the mini van is not available do I have to take the substitution or can I cancel my HOTWIRE booking?

If you're offered a compact then i don't see any issue... if you're offered a larger vehicle which would still meet your needs, it would become more of a 'gray area'. If for example you were given an Expedition (or whatever that HUGE GMC vehicle is) i suppose you could make the argument that you're not comfortable driving such a large car, and it make take a discussion with the rental company and/or HOTWIRE to meet some resolution, but the above scenario would with this particular car class would happen so infrequently i can't say how each company (HOTWIRE and the rental company) would handle it.

If you reserved a compact and were given an intermediate because there were no more compacts, i don't think you would be able to get a refund... but given the 'specialty' class of a minivan there aren't too many other substitutions.
