Priceline Hotel: Newbie posting for 3* hotel 4/29-5/2

Hello, I'm new to priceline bidding and while I tried to borrow some post ideas that were similar to my request, I've decided to ask for some personal advice on the matter!

Here's what my hubby and I were thinking - hopefully not a long shot!

3* hotel

budget is max $100/night - it'd be pretty sweet if we could get it lower though :)

Areas we'd like to be around:

MTE

MTW

TS

ESB

Chelsea

CPS

MSG

Basically, we'd like to be close to the action. My hubby doesn't really want to be in the financial district unless you can advise how far it is from subways, etc - in another words, how long would it take to get to the touristy stuff from the financial district?

There are plenty of subways Downtown... but it will take about 20-25 minutes to get to "midtown". Depending upon where you're heading, your destination could be closer/further away.

Also note that in MTE is the Millenium UN which, while a nice hotel with good reviews, is about a 15 minute walk to the subway... would this be an acceptable outcome?

We'll suggest a strategy for whatever you decide, but i think you're budget is going to come up a bit short for these dates. If you include downtown you have a chance, but my best guess is that you're going to need to increase your budget.

Let us know regarding the zone(s) above and if you want to stick with $100 as your maximum bid... we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow.

Hi!

If the subways DT are a closer walk than if we stayed in MTE, I'd prefer to include DT. Is MTE close to anything we might want to see? Or would we need to hop onto a subway regardless? Just wondering if we should really include it. We're interested in going to ellis island, statue of liberty, times square, empire state bulding, ground zero, central park to name a few...

We can increase our max bid to $120.

You don't want to just consider how close the subway is, but more so how long it will take you (star to finish) to get to your desired location... Downtown you can be 5 minutes from a subway but a 25 minute ride to midtown; whereas in MTE you could be 15 minutes from the subway but a 5 minute ride to Times Square. Given this scenario, Downtown is close to the subway but a longer trip to any midtown stops.

However, many of your destinations (ellis island, statue of liberty, ground zero) are all downtown (or depart from downtown)... however i'd reconsider your choice to go to Ellis Island and/or Statue of Liberty, as they will be an all day affair, much of which will be spent waiting on lines to take the ferry to the statue and back.

Let us know what you decide regarding the zone(s) to include and we'll suggest a strategy accordingly.

Thanks for the suggestions about Ellis Island and Statue of Liberty. That will definitely save us some time and frustration avoiding them. As far as zones go I think we would be happy with the following zones.

MTE

MTW

CPS

Chelsea
