pinkyandthebrain Posted February 7, 2005 Report Posted February 7, 2005 Hi all!My first bid was 25.00 winnipeg area- rejected, added Winnipeg south and upped it to 27.00 -rejectedadded Winnipeg downtown and upped it to 30.00...accepted. Yay!this is my first time using priceline, and I found your site just before doing it...I don't know if I could have done better... was this a good way to do it?Thanks for an amazing site! My hotel is reserved for March 18th and 19th...I'm so excited for such a cheap room! yay!
thereuare Posted February 7, 2005 Report Posted February 7, 2005 Welcome to BetterBidding!Congratulations on your win!Glad you found us before bidding and hopefully the information here helped you get a great deal.I'll be able to comment on your strategy once i have a bit more information... -was your first bid in the Winipeg zone or the Winipeg Airport zone?-is the Sheraton in the Winipeg zone? (the zones in winipeg are "Winipeg", "Airport Area", and "South"... i'm assuming that when you mention Downtown you mean the "Winipeg" area (as defined by priceline)As i'm not 100% sure if your first and third bid refer to the same zone or not i can't comment until i know that information. (i'll be happy to comment once you clarify)Regardless, this certainly seems like a great deal, but of course we're always interested in educating so that you, and others, can apply that information to future bids :) Do you agree with the HOTEL REVIEW of this property? Feel free to reply with your own comments/observations.Thanks for posting to the forum. pinkyandthebrain Posted February 7, 2005 Author Report Posted February 7, 2005 the three areas they gave me were:1. Winnipeg Airport2. Winnipeg South3. Winnipeg (which on the map is Winnipeg downtown)Sorry I guess I was not 100% on my original post... So if I'm getting it right my first bid was 25.00 Winnipeg Airportsecond was 27.00 Winnipeg (downtown)and third bid was 30.00 for Winnipeg SouthMake sense? The winning bid of 30.00 was for the Sheraton which is located downtown.I'm now going to go and look at the review, and see what it says, I have been at the sheraton before...so I know all about it.Also I know the sheraton often has a breakfast included with their stays... any guesses if this may include it? Does priceline ever indicate that breakfast is included on any of it's hotels?Thanks...I'm going to love coming here!
thereuare Posted February 7, 2005 Report Posted February 7, 2005 If breakfast is standard for all guests than it should be included in your Priceline stay, but if the hotel has some rates that include breakfast and others that do not, then it's not a 'standard amenity' and therefore not included in your priceline purchase.Depending upon what your prefered zone was, i would have bid this a little differently, utilizing the fact that the South area has 2* as it's highest star quality and you were bidding 3*. This means you could have used it as a re-bid zone (explained here: PRICELNE RE-BIDDING)... getting more chances to bid, and at lower levels first, and targeting your prefered zone.Seems like this worked out pretty good anyway, but for future bids feel free to ask for a strategy first, even if it is just a means of double-checking or comparing what is suggested to your own idea of how to bid.
