monalogy Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 I want to be within walking distance of West Hollywood's Santa Monica Blvd and Roberston's junction. I really want to stay at the London West and have read on the forums that some people received it. My dates of travel are Friday, June 25th and checking out Sunday, June 27th.With the search options of BH-WH, this hotel comes up4.5 with the features:-Fitness Center-Pools-Restaurants-Business Center-High Speed InternetI'm pretty sure it's the Sofitel. My question is.. what would be my best approach to get the best deal for London West? I don't believe it's come up on Priceline (according to better bidding). I'm even willing to be flexible with my dates of travel (maybe change to a weekday..but still remain within late June). I'm hoping to pay less than $500 after tax for the entire stay (ideally under $400). Please help. Thanks!
thereuare Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 HOTWIRE will only show one hotel at each star level per zone... the hotel with the lowest rate is the one offered.Other than change your dates and 'play' a little with the occupancy (searching for 2adults/2children sometimes offers a different property then when just searching for 2adults alone) there is nothing you can do to 'make' a hotel be among those offered on a given HOTWIRE search. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know whatever you decide to do for this stay and how it goes or of we can be of further help. monalogy Posted March 31, 2010 Author Report Posted March 31, 2010 Hi, I've never used PRICELINE before only HOTWIRE. For my dates of travel, June 25th through 27th (Friday-Sunday), I believe HOTWIRE has the Sofitel for a total of $350. I wanted to know if I can get something drastically less on Priceline? Since I'm not familiar with PRICELINE I'm not too sure how to go about bidding strategically. Please help, thanks.
monalogy Posted April 1, 2010 Author Report Posted April 1, 2010 Hi, I'm not too familiar with Priceline and wanted to know if there's an approach that I should take to try to get the hotel of choice..which is Le Montrose for the dates of July 16th through 18th. Through Expedia I can get the Executive Suite Non Refundable for $350. I wanted to know if this is my best deal or do you think I could possible take a chance and end up with Le Montrose for something drastically less? Please help. Thanks!
yellowdog Posted April 1, 2010 Report Posted April 1, 2010 You can't bid on a specific hotel when using PRICELINE. You need to be willing to stay at any * or higher in the zone you're bidding at.If you're trying to target a specific property then HOTWIRE can often be a better option if you're successfully able to identify it based upon the star rating and amenities shown before your purchase... the trade-off is that HOTWIRE usually costs a little more than PRICELINE, so you need to decide what is most important to you for a given stay, the lowest possible price OR the ability to take an educated guess as to the property you may receive.Let us know how we can help you further.Yellowdog.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
yellowdog Posted April 1, 2010 Report Posted April 1, 2010 I don't know if you can get anything "drastically" less on PRICELINE but using PRICELINE is generaly cheaper than HOTWIREIf you would like to get help with a bidding strategy so please post your budget/night, zone(s) you're willing to stay in and the rating for the hotel. You need to be willing to stay at any ?* or higher in the zone you're bidding at.Let us how we can help you further. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Yellowdog.
monalogy Posted April 1, 2010 Author Report Posted April 1, 2010 Hi again, Sorry for so many posts..I'm not sure how to delete my previous ones (since they're off topic now) so I started a new one I hope that is okay.4* hotel in BH/WH, for the dates of Thursday, July 15th through Sunday, July 18thI want to stay in a 4* Hotel in Beverly Hills/West Hollywood. With tax and fees I don't want to pay more than $90. Do you think this is realistic? If not then what about a max of $110 per night? (I want a lower bid in case I get a hotel that has double beds as a standard room because in that situation I would need to upgrade to a king so I'm trying to save money early on). I was reading that some people got different hotels at a winning bid of $110 but when I compared with the hotel rates on their websites, my travel dates had a lower rate so I'm hoping that maybe I can get them for a lower rate too. Please help me with the bidding process and strategies so I can get the best deal. Also, do you think it's best to wait towards my travel dates or bid right now?Thank you!
thereuare Posted April 2, 2010 Report Posted April 2, 2010 Keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread... if your dates change, it's still the same trip, so keep them in the same thread. As far as when to bid see the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ....a hotel that has double beds as a standard room because in that situation I would need to upgrade to a king...How many guests will there be? What if the hotel is unable, or unwilling. to upgrade you (even if for a fee)? Are you plans, zone, and dates now firm? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. monalogy Posted April 2, 2010 Author Report Posted April 2, 2010 Hi there, yes those are firm dates now and that is the zone I want to be in. Do you think it's possible to get a winning bid for as low as $90? What strategy would you suggest? Meaning, how should I go about bidding? As for bed size/type of room, it doesn't matter any more as long as I can get the best rate possible. By the way, thank you for moving the post to the correct thread for me.
monalogy Posted April 2, 2010 Author Report Posted April 2, 2010 Oops, I forgot to mention there will be a total of 2 guest.
thereuare Posted April 2, 2010 Report Posted April 2, 2010 At the 4* level you have THREE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 4* Beverly Hills-West Hollywood...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $90, if rejected closer browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Beverly Hills-West Hollywood and re-bid zone2...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $100, if rejected closer browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Beverly Hills-West Hollywood and re-bid zone3...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $110, if rejected closer browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Beverly Hills-West Hollywood and re-bid zone2 and re-bid zone3...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $120Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
