orangecowboy Posted March 31, 2010 Author Report Posted March 31, 2010 I really haven't come up with a max. I am trying to figure out what should be my max. I did look on a few websites and rates are high. Somwhere between $200 to $300 a night. I also can't find any successful bids on the board for that time period. I would prefer to not split my bid, but nobody likes to. I might end up doing it as a last resort.Any idea why rates are so high that week?
thereuare Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 There's always something happening in DC... a rally, march, political meeting, some branch of the government in 'session', lobbyists, conferences, etc, etc. It's not uncommon to see rates sub-$100 one week and well over $200+ the next.I'd start by finding your best available offer thru conventional booking channels... then you can determine how much of a discount you need to make an 'opaque' purchase worthwhile, and you can set your maximum bid accordingly.I would also look at the Convention Center zone to see if the hotels and/or area are acceptable for your needs, as adding more zones increases the number of hotels available to accept your bid, which would increase your chances as well. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
