Hi all,

Long time user, first time poster. Just wanted to share with you my winning bid after 4 arduous days of shopping.

I started over the weekend with 4* anywhere in Manhattan;I was up to $200 and was still rejected.

I tried 3.5* for the same price range, and was rejected.

I settled for 2.5* up to $150 and 3* up to $180, and was rejected.

I saw a 4* for $182 yesterday on HOTWIRE and I didn't take it, so it went away.

Yesterday, I was once again rejected for 4* anywhere in Manhattan with bids up to $180.

Today I used the usual BetterBidding PRICELINE links at the top of the page, and was actually bidding on 3.5* with CPS, ESB, MSG, MTE, MTW, and TS starting with $150, then $160 (added Chelsea for a filler), then $170 (added Soho for a filler) and was finally accepted and upgraded to a 4* even!

Welcome (officially) to BetterBidding!

Congratulations on your success!

Glad to see you're happy with the results. Note for future bidding that Soho is not a 'filler' (ie- re-bid zone) when bidding 3.5* in NYC. For the correct way to determine your re-bid zones see this thread: Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask any questions you may have.

I'll also mention my often recommended bagel shop for breakfast which is a short walk from this hotel, Ess-A-Bagel, on Third Ave at 51st St. One of the best bagels in the city and makes for a good, and relatively inexpensive, breakfast among local NYers.

Thank you for sharing your win and using the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your bidding.

Enjoy your stay.

Oooh thanks for the bagel tip! I was all set for dessert recommendations, but no breakfast ones yet! Yum!

OMG you're so right about Soho, I actually didn't choose it b/c it was out of our preferred locations. It's Chelsea, LongIsland and UES, and UWS. Wheew, that was close! My little excel spreadsheet nearly failed me!
