I finally won my bid after 17 tries. I was aiming for the MTE area and was expecting to pay no more that $130/night for a 3.5*/4* hotel. Here's my bidding strategy:

Started off with 4* Hotel Bids. I looked at all my re-bid zones that didn't have 4* hotels.

MTE: $100 - rejected

Times Square $102 - rejected

Brooklyn $105 - rejected

Madison Square Garden: $108 - rejected

MTW: $110 - rejected

Chelsea: $115 - rejected

Long Island: $118 - rejected

Upper East Side: $121 - rejected

Central Park South: $125 - rejected

Re-loaded the page and started with the 3.5* Bids. I again looked at all my re-bid zones that didn't have 3.5* hotels.

Long Island: $118 - rejected

Upper East Side: $121 - rejected

Central Park South: $125 - rejected

Empire State: $127 - ACCEPTED BID :)
