Was wondering if anybody had any tips for a first time user and a first time visitor to NYC. I need two rooms ( 4 adults) for 5 nights in a good, safe location with access to the subway sysytem. Would like to be somewhere in midtown but would sacrifice prime location for a killer deal. At least 3 1/2 star is what we all agreed on so somewhere in the 150 a night range is acceptable.

Welcome to BetterBidding!

You mention MTE as one your acceptable zones, but note that at the 3.5* level in this zone is the Millenium UN, which while a very nice hotel, is about a 15 minute walk to the subway... is this an acceptable outcome? (although another caveat is that some of the 3.5* hotels in the CPS zones have very small rooms)

Also, is there a reason you're avoiding CPS and/or ESB, which also tend to be centrally located for the typical visitor.
