rjf2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Report Posted March 29, 2010 Have only used priceline once a long time ago. Am looking for a 4* or 3.5* in Washington -- fairly central, near tourist attractions -- for April 1 to 6. Would prefer to be close to a Metro station or within walking distance of some major attractions. Anyone with advice on how to maximize the bidding process?
jenavive Posted March 30, 2010 Report Posted March 30, 2010 Hey there. I just saw your post as I was looking to see what the going rates were for this weekend since that is when I'll be going to D.C. As far as locations, did you see this post? Priceline Zones Washington DCHave you looked at the calendar for recent wins? I don't think the link is very obvious, it's right above the Forum tabs that say Priceline and Hotwire Forum, Hotel Reviews, Hotel Photos, etc and says ***NEW BOARD FEATURE: Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins. This gives you a quick glance at the winning bids by date so you don't have to scroll through all the forum posts. It is very helpful!Be sure to use the links to PRICELINE from this website for your searches and bidding - it helps them keep this site running and they greatly appreciate it!As far as bidding, after you've looked at the calendar to get an idea, you'll be ready to bid. Keep in mind, for the same specific location and star level, you may only be able to bid once every 24 hrs. What most of us do is bid, then add another area, then add another star level. Don't be surprised if you get a response from PRICELINE saying if you increase your price by $XX then they'll give you a room now. You can take that or try again. You should see this post before you begin. Priceline Re-Bidding ExplainedI hope this helps some! One last thing, be sure to keep track of your bids as you go and repost them here. see Post your Bid History
