danielribo Posted March 29, 2010 Report Posted March 29, 2010 I'm travelling to New York for 4 nights, 28 September - 2 October.I'm after a 3 star or greater hotel in the midtown area. I've been bidding fairly low on priceline ($130ish) and all are being rejected. Can anyone suggest a more realistic price. Am I looking a little bit too early? Thanks!
thereuare Posted March 29, 2010 Report Posted March 29, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding! You're likely too early and too low... exactly which zones (by PRICELINE name) are you bidding? What is the best rate you're able to find at an acceptable hotel thru conventional booking channels? What is your maximum bid for this stay? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know the above and we'll take it from there. danielribo Posted March 29, 2010 Author Report Posted March 29, 2010 I'm looking at the Midtown areas (east, Times Square etc etc).I'm able to find the Hotel Penn for $174 a night which is ok, however the hotel isn't very good. If I could get a nice 3 1/2 star chain hotel for about the $170 mark, I'd be happy - but of course lower is better!
thereuare Posted March 29, 2010 Report Posted March 29, 2010 ... exactly which zones (by PRICELINE name) are you bidding? As "midtown" isn't a PRICELINE zone, please tell us exactly which zones you're willing to accept... do you consider ESB, MSG, and Chelsea to be part of 'midtown'? What about CPS?Also, in your first post you mention having bid at the 3* level, but above you mention looking for a 3.5* or higher hotel, what is your current minimum desired star rating? Are you willing to pay more for a 3.5* vs. a 3* or is your goal the least expensive hotel at your minimum star rating for this stay? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
