Priceline Hotel: Help with Priceline/Hotwire NYC 5/1-5/4

I have a travel plan to NYC in May1 to May 4. i wil stay 3 nights, I would like to stay in a nice hotel but, I dont have so much many to pay $500 a night. I would like to stay in New York city area. What would be a good starting bid for a 2.5 - 4 star hotel?

my maxium budget is $75/night.

do i have chance to bid it??

1: I have no car so i want to travel by the subway in new york. the areas as following are accepted

Empire State Building Area

Madison Square Garden - Convention Area

Midtown East

Midtown West

Times Square - Theatre District

2: I think the $75 is my max budget because i am a student.

3: if the budget is not enougth, maybe the star of hotel is not important, 2 stars is also accepted.

4: do you have any good suggestion?

Try Hoboken NJ. In my experience, cheaper and better properties. Though you will have to commit to a bit of subway riding. From Hoboken, you can take the NJ PATH rail line to the NYC subway lines. I believe the World Trade Center stop is at times a non-stop from one of the PATH stations in Hoboken.
