Priceline Hotel: 3* Birmgingham (Hoover) Hyatt Place

I am going to UAB hospital in Birmingham for my yearly checkup. I have decided to try using PRICELINE to book my room for one night, March 22, 2010. I am looking at the Hoover area and a 3 star hotel. Any suggestions on what the best first bid amount should be?

I have gotten the Hyatt Place several times for $45. It is a very clean, new hotel. I think they have a free continental bfast or a deluxe you can pay for. I would start there, though. HTH.

I'd start at $30 and work higher. In terms of the "known", the La Quinta Birmingham/Hoover is $45 for this date on Orbitz.com and, on google maps, appears to be 0.2M away from the UAB. If you use coupon code WELCOME10, that takes 10% off = $40.50, plus free breakfast.

Won 3* Hyatt Place at Hoover (Birmingham) for $43 (Total $56.49) for one night 3/22/2010. Nice room with double beds. The whole hotel is smoke free. There was a Manager's reception for two hours starting at 5:30 PM with free beer and wine. The only downside was the dining area is small and crowded. Free continental breakfast in the morning. All in all an excellent value in my opinion.

I have been making this trip to Birmingham once a year for the last nine years for a checkup at UAB Hospital. This was the nicest hotel with the lowest price since we have been making the trip. Betterbidding.com had good advise on bidding this area.

This is my first time using PRICELINE.com and if this is typical, I'm hooked!

Occasionally you can get a set of dates which are very high demand and it makes getting as good of a deal, or any deal at all, difficult, but overall, if you're flexible in your plans, the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE are great.
