Priceline Hotel: Need strategy for 2.5* or higher

Hi! I need help with a bidding strategy for a 2.5* or higher property in the San Mateo area for February 9, for one night. I need 3 rooms for that night. Ideally, I'd like the price to be under $40/room.

I went ahead and tried bidding today because I wanted to have 72 hours to try again if I didn't get it. I didn't get it. Here's what I tried:

Bid $38 for 3*, rejected.

Added re-bid zone, increased to $40, rejected.

Bix $38 for 2.5*, rejected.

Any advice?

Well you've just about bid up to your limit... do you have any back-up reservation/plan? What would you do if you're not successful with Priceline?

I don't have any backups right now - I guess I'll just bid again and go up to $50/room. That's still going to be cheaper than anything I can find in that area. I'll let you know how it goes! :)

Hi! Found a backup at the Comfort Inn Airport South in San Mateo - cancellable internet rate of $57.60. I bid on Priceline again accordingly, but I didn't win:

Bid $42 for 3* in San Mateo, rejected

Added rebid zone, raised to $48, rejected.

Bid $45 for 2.5* in San Mateo, rejected. (Offered to try again with a $13 raise, declined.)
