Priceline Hotel: 3* Santa Barbara Hotel Ocean

Man I just won Hotel Oceana for just 1 night also on 3/28/2010 but the lowest I could get was $89 WTF?!?!? Used the PRICELINE link.

I was denied at 72, 75, 77, 79, 81, 85, 88, and finally accepted at $89!

PLEASE HELP WITH QUESTION: Why was I denied the same $77 price for the same night as this winning bid when initially using the exact same bids to submit?!?!?

I even checked the hotel ocean website price on 3/29/2010 to see if it was a less expensive night since the OP is staying that night as well and that maybe was the reason for his discount, but that night 3/29 is actually MORE expensive on the hotel website! what gives???

Can anybody please explain to me the PRICELINE mentality for raisng prices like this on the same night??? do they raise prices randomly from time to time or do I just have bad luck and timing or was it a glitch in the system?!?!

i cant find any other reason as to why i could not get the same $77 price? please help, thanks..

If you check rates for your solo nite vs. rates for the thread linked to above, you'll see that the hotel direct rate for your nite is higher than the average nightly rate of the other users thread.

As well, rates can change often, and the other user won their bid over 2 weeks ago, the hotel may have higher occupancy now then they did 2 weeks ago and have since raise their 'opaque' rate (btw, it's the hotel that sets the rates... not PRICELINE)
