edana Posted March 24, 2010 Report Posted March 24, 2010 I used the BB PRICELINE Link. Bid $60 for 4* Palm Desert, Indian Wells, etc., got counter-offer of $77. Added Indio zone, rebid $64, rejected. Added Palm Springs & rebid $69, got accepted by (AAA 3*) Mission Hills Resort 71333 Dinah Shore Drive. Question for the board or a member who may know: If I had accepted the $77 counter offer, would I have gotten a different property, i.e. La Quinta Resort & Club or some other such AAA 4* property? Thanks for your insight.
thereuare Posted March 25, 2010 Report Posted March 25, 2010 Congratulations on your success!Hope you're happy with the results and this property works well for your plans. If you had accepted the counter-offer you most likely would have received the same hotel... but have paid more for it. edana Posted March 25, 2010 Author Report Posted March 25, 2010 Very interesting thread you cited. Thanks. I'd previously thought maybe a different hotel counter-offered higher in attempt to solicit/snag a customer away from a lower priced hotel which would have accepted the customer's lower re-bid closer to the original bid (and less than the counter offer). Still possible?By the way, my accepted rebid amount was $69. Thanks for editing.
thereuare Posted March 25, 2010 Report Posted March 25, 2010 I suppose it's possible... but i don't think it makes much sense from a business standpoint. If it played out as per your scenario, the 'lower priced' hotel would cry foul as it 'should' have been their sale. Bottom line is that you could just as easily end up overbidding for the same hotel, which is not a chance most of us are willing to take. Thanks for letting us know the correct winning bid price, i've edited the topic title accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Enjoy your stay.
