Thijs Posted March 24, 2010 Report Posted March 24, 2010 First bid was $55 for 4* Downtown (7/19/10-7/21/10), counteroffer $70. I bid again $58 and $61 with adding 'free' rebid zones, $61 accepted.Inter-Continental New OrleansRoom Cost (avg. per room, per night): $61.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Room Subtotal: $122.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $27.34 (USD) Total Room Cost: $149.34 (USD) I'm very happy with the result, as the Inter-Continental website offers the cheapest room for $135 + tax per night. Thanks for the great info on this board and of course I used the PRICELINE link for my bid!I have one question, maybe someone can advise me. I'll be arriving in New Orleans by Amtrak around 8 pm. Does anyone know if there are taxis at the train station at that hour? I don't like to walk to the hotel, as the Amtrak station seems to be not in the safest part of town. Any advice is appreciated!Thijs
thereuare Posted March 24, 2010 Report Posted March 24, 2010 Congratulations on your success!Looks like a very nice deal for this property and hopefully you're pleased with the results.I don't have firsthand experience with the Amtrak Station in New Orleans, but a quick web search i found somebody who mentioned that taxis are always available (which i would assume to be the case) and that the fare to the Quarter was about $10.To be safe, i'd take the phone number of 1-2 taxi companies with you before you leave, so that if by chance there are no taxis there upon your arrival you can call one of the companies to come get you... but i wouldn't think you'd have any problem getting a taxi from the station.Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using our PRICELINE link to begin your bidding.Enjoy your stay. Thijs Posted March 24, 2010 Author Report Posted March 24, 2010 Thanks for the reply, thereuare. Probably a good idea to take the phone numbers of some taxi companies. Just to be sure. Thijs
