Seekhawk Posted February 27, 2010 Report Posted February 27, 2010 First off - I absolutely love this site!! I am so happy I found it and will suggest it to all of my PRICELINE / HOTWIRE cronies! Can you help me determine this hotwire property?Dates: 3/26 - 3/29DC-Arlington Area2.5 Stars - $94Amenities: Shuttle, complimentary breakfast, fitness center, pool, restaurant, business center, laundry, and internet access. Thanks!
thereuare Posted February 27, 2010 Report Posted February 27, 2010 Welcome to Betterbidding! If you go back to HOTWIRE and click the CONTINUE button next to this offering and then click the "See all " link on top of the icons, do you see more amenities than what you've listed above? Also, is there something in particular you're looking for from this stay as i see this is more expensive and lower rated than the 3.5* and 4* hotels in this zone... so this doesn't really seem like a very good value relative to the other options. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Seekhawk Posted February 27, 2010 Author Report Posted February 27, 2010 I agree, this property seems expensive relative to the 3+ star properties. I had hoped it might be an Embassy Suite because I will be traveling with my 17 yr old son (I'm his mother), and my preference is that we don't have to "share" a room - he likes his wind down privacy and so do I! We usually stay at Embassy Suites for this reason. I didn't find an Embassy Suite in Arlington though per the Hilton website. As I'm not familiar with the area, I am not sure if Arlington may be considered Washington, DC or part of some other city as well. When I click continue, I see only the 8 amenities I listed previously. I also notice that Hotwire is "still gathering reviews for this property" so apparently it's new to HOTWIRE...Thanks for your help!
Seekhawk Posted February 27, 2010 Author Report Posted February 27, 2010 Just realized this...would there also be an "S" Icon to denote suite if it is Embassy Suites or (e.g.) Homewood Suites, or any of the other suite only property?
thereuare Posted February 27, 2010 Report Posted February 27, 2010 Suite properties usually show the S icon, but not always... if it's the only suite property in the area they may not want to 'give it away' by showing the Suite icon. As well, Homewood Suites and Embassy Suites are usually rated higher than 2.5*.Have you considered staying in DC itself? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Seekhawk Posted February 27, 2010 Author Report Posted February 27, 2010 I would think those properties were rated higher as well. The amenities offered though seems to be in line with something greater than a 2.5*. As for location, DC Capital Hill area is my preference actually.
thereuare Posted February 28, 2010 Report Posted February 28, 2010 The amenities offered though seems to be in line with something greater than a 2.5*.Not really... the Days Inn seems to have the amenities above and would be inline with the star rating provided, but again, there are certainly MUCH better values offered for these nites. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Seekhawk Posted March 1, 2010 Author Report Posted March 1, 2010 Excellent point. I checked the amenities at the Arlington Days Inn and they line up perfectly! It's a little surprising though because the HOTWIRE nightly rate is $94 compared to rates at the Day's Inn website of $68 - $100 at the Arlington location or $93 - $109 at the Pentagon/Arlington location. Even at a $15 discount, $94 is no bargain for Day's Inn relative to the other HOTWIRE values. Thanks for the insight! I will proceed cautiously...
Seekhawk Posted March 23, 2010 Author Report Posted March 23, 2010 Just to close this one out...I used the PRICELINE link, selected 3.5 stars in Convention Center region, bid $64 (fingers-crossed for Embassy Suites) and won The Liaison Capitol Hill - An Affinia Hotel - upgraded to 4 stars. I will post the details under the correct Priceline thread.
Seekhawk Posted March 23, 2010 Author Report Posted March 23, 2010 First bid - $64 for 3.5 star in Convention Center Capitol Hill area.
