mp03 Posted March 21, 2010 Report Posted March 21, 2010 We are looking for 4 rooms (8 adults) preferrably in or very NEAR to Times Square. Only 3 of us have ever been to NYC, so we are going to be doing all the "tourist" attractions. I know you do not necessarily recommend staying in TS but I have only been one other time & stayed at the Marriott in TS so I am very familiar w/ this area. I also did not necessarily think it was "loud" or "too busy", but we are willing to stay very close if we have to. Here is what I am looking for:4* in TS - willing to pay up to $200 (a little more if we need to include taxes)I am not very familiar w/ the other "areas" you all describe, but I think that I have read that MTE was close to TS..4* near TS - willing to pay up to $175Might would consider 3.5* if you all think they are great hotels also.We just want a very CLEAN, SAFE, CLOSE location to the "heart" of NYC!Thanks for all of your help!!!
mp03 Posted March 22, 2010 Author Report Posted March 22, 2010 I have used Priceline & Hotwire before, but I have only booked 1 room at a time. Does it hurt you to book multiple rooms? Should you bid differently? I need 4 rooms for 3 nights. I am going to NYC June 19-22. Would like to stay in TS or a zone near there in a 4* preferrably but would stay in 3.5* if needed. My top that I want to go is $200 per night in a 4* but would like the lowest possible rate. Thanks for your help!
AaronJB Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)How many are going to be in each room? PRICELINE does not guarantee more than double occupancy/1 bed, so if there are going to be more than 2 in each room, HOTWIRE would be a more optimal choice for this stay. Is your max bid $200 "all-in" (with taxes/fees) or $200 + taxes/fees? Additionally, which other PRICELINE zones in the nearby area (such as MTE/MTW) would you like to bid for?Let us know your thoughts on the above and then we would be happy to offer suggestions on how to proceed.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
mp03 Posted March 23, 2010 Author Report Posted March 23, 2010 There will be 2 adults in each room. I would prefer to stay below $200 but if it goes over that w/ taxes that would be okay, but obviously I would like to get the rooms for the cheapest amount possible. I am not sure about other zones. We would like to stay in the "heart" of NYC, which I believe is around TS. I have stayed in TS once before & really liked it there, but I am willing to go to surrounding areas near TS if I can't get something for less than $200 in TS.Thanks for your help!
thereuare Posted March 23, 2010 Report Posted March 23, 2010 I'd start with the comments here: Hotels Near Times SquareGenerally speaking, the MTE, MTW, TS, ESB, and CPS zones all work well for the typical visitor to NYC. However, you should look at the PRICELINE zone boundaries to determine if all/any of these zone(s) will work for your own needs. As well, check the Priceline Hotel List for 'known' hotels at the 4* level in each zone to determine if there are any that wish to avoid (and therefore not bid that zone)It's your stay so you may determine that Times Square is the only zone you want, but as the link above indicates, it's usually not where you'll be spending most of your time and not necessary to focus your sole attention on this zone, as you don't need to be in this exact location in order to be centrally located.Based upon the above let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... and your searches too! mp03 Posted March 24, 2010 Author Report Posted March 24, 2010 I think I have narrowed my choices to TS, MTW & MTE. Can you guide me as to what to start out bidding on each of these? Keep in mind I need 4 rooms for 3 nights. Thanks!
thereuare Posted March 24, 2010 Report Posted March 24, 2010 At the 4* level you have FIVE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 4* MTE and MTW...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* TS...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* MTE and MTW and TS...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $165, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* MTE and MTW and TS and re-bid zone5...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $180, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $185, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $190Any questions feel free to ask. mp03 Posted March 24, 2010 Author Report Posted March 24, 2010 Do I need to bid in this order? Starting w/ MTW, MTE?
thereuare Posted March 25, 2010 Report Posted March 25, 2010 What order do you want to bid? Is there a hotel or zone that you're trying to avoid by bidding in a different order? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. mp03 Posted March 25, 2010 Author Report Posted March 25, 2010 No, I prefer staying in TS but don't mind staying in MTW or MTE. I guess I would say that I would like the "nicest" hotel for the best value, so in which zone would I have a chance of getting this?
thereuare Posted March 25, 2010 Report Posted March 25, 2010 You could bid MTE and TS in the first phase, then bid MTW in the second phase, then bid as posted (MTE, MTW, and TS) for the third phase. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
