Hotwire Hotel: Downers Grove Doubletree Guest Suites and Conference Center

Hi there...

I am getting ready to book my stay on HOTWIRE and my choices currently for a Downers Grove, IL. stay in a 3 star or better, is only 4 hotels. My stay is from 4/7-4/9 with 2 adults and one child age 10. I believe that the 4.5* hotel listed for this area is The Westin ( after searching these wonderful boards here I figuired that out).

However due to family staying at "The Doubletree Guest Suites/Conference center" we REALLY and I stress REALLY! want to stay there. I have spent COUNTLESS hours since last week trying to eliminate what hotel it probably isnt ( by searching ratings etc) and which one it could be but Im not making very good progress.

Tripadvisor lists "The Doubletree Guest Suites/Conference Center as 4.5 for reviews and 3.5 as a hotel rating! This is very confusing as Im not sure which one to use to search to compare! The hotels listed currently on HOTWIRE is the following:

4.5* $78 Lombard-Oakbrook/Downers Grove area

3.5* $54 Lombard-Oakbrook/Downers Grove area ( im guessing this is my best guess!)

3.0* $39 Lombard-Oakbrook/Downers Grove area

4.0* $86 Lombard-Oakbrook/Downers Grove area

The star ratings are so close that it makes it almost impossible to figuire out if one of them is it or not ( im assuming I am not going to be able to tell because of this!) Another post on this forum from a user as recently as 3/4/2010 states that the 4.5* as being the Westin, so I guess really its down to 3. ANY and all help or advice would be greatly appreciated! I need to get this booked ASAP and I keep trying to find the best deal! The site for the Doubletree for this location is $127!! Thank you so very very much!

There is actually TWO Doubletrees in this Downers Grove area...the other is on Spring Rd. That one I AM NOT interested in staying at.

The issue with PRICELINE in this case is that there is no way to try for a particular property, and there's quite a few similar properties in this zone, so using PRICELINE in this case would be quite a big risk.

HOTWIRE only shows one hotel per star rating per zone for the particular dates in question. If the Doubletree isn't showing, then there is unfortunately no way around it. Overall though, there is not a 100% guarantee of getting a particular property on HOTWIRE, either.

What are the amenity icons showing w/the HOTWIRE listings in questions for these dates?

While it's understandable that you would want to be at the same property (the Doubletree), would there be a price point where you would be okay with staying at a nearby hotel instead?

The Doubletree Suites is showing for $127 and change on Orbitz for these dates, and coupon FABSAVE10 takes 10% off that price.

Thank you for letting me know about Orbitz, however when I went there it would not let me use the FABSAVE10 coupon code you gave me. I click on your link and went directly there. But it did not give me 10% off the rate. Was there something else I should have done?

Also....

I wasnt using PRICELINE, just HOTWIRE to get the quote but I understand what you were saying. Im going to end up just having to pay the full rate of $127 if i cant figuire out which hotel on HOTWIRE could be the Doubletree Guest Suites/Conference Center in Downers Grove, IL.

The amenities for the hotel im WANTING to stay at is: Swimming Pool-Fitness Center-Business Center-High Speed Internet-Meeting Room-Wheel Chair Accessable-Wireless-Onsite Dining-Whirlpool

When you went to search on HOTWIRE, which amenity icons were showing with the listings you mention above? Additionally, not sure why the coupon isn't working on Orbitz, as when I typed it into the promotional code box when searching for this hotel for these dates, it did take off the 10% from the final total.
