mcmor7 Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 I am looking for a hotel in NYC for March 25-29. Party of four - me (mom), and 3 boys ages 19, 17, 13.If I can find a nice big room (2 queens) I believe that we would be ok in one room. However, most of what I am finding are double beds. There is no way these big boys will be able to share a double bed! The youngest will share with me.I may have no choice other than to get two rooms;therefore, I am trying to get a great deal. I want to stay in the $250 (total) (or less!) range per night.Hotwire is listing a hotel 3.5 stars, Times Square-Theatre District for $135.00 per nightBoutiqueBreakfastPool areaBusiness centerSpa services availAny ideas what hotel that might be? I really need to find out if they have queens or doubles? Thanks!
mcmor7 Posted March 22, 2010 Author Report Posted March 22, 2010 I am traveling with my 3 boys, ages 13, 17, 19 to NYC this week. I really would like to stay in two rooms, and try to find a great Priceline deal, but I am concerned that I may still end up with a bedding dilemma. I must have a room with 2 beds, (big boys won't share a double bed!!) and from what I am reading, I know there is no guarantee. From others experience with Priceline, what are the chances that I would get a room with just 1 bed? I am willing to take a chance, but if there is hope for two beds. Thanks!
AaronJB Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 Good morning. :)PRICELINE does not guarantee 2 beds in general, but NYC is particularly risky in this regard, as most NYC hotels have very small/small rooms and rooms w/2 beds (when available) usually go for a premium. HOTWIRE would be a better choice in this case. What would be your desired budget per night, and what zones would you be interested in staying in?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
mcmor7 Posted March 22, 2010 Author Report Posted March 22, 2010 Thanks for your reply! I have been to NY numerous times and I have stayed anywhere from uptown (west side), to downtown (Tribeca), and in the middle Midtown. I am comfortable on the subway, but I don't want us to spend tons of time on it. We are doing all the "typical" stuff: Met, SOL, WTC, Broadway show, Central Park, walk around SoHo and the Village, etc. I am pretty open on location. Trying to stay under $250.00 or so per night - 1 room or two - no less than 3 star. If I know the room is decent sized, the 4 of us will just share a room. I stay at the Cosmopolitan on a previous trip with 4 in a room, and it was very, very cramped. I will probably just have to settle for 2 double beds - it seems like queens are few and far between.I have never waited this late before to book, but I keep hoping to come up with a great deal! Thanks! Robyn
AaronJB Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 Let me see what I can find for these dates - be right back.
thereuare Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread. For the HOTWIRE property above, how many rooms/adults/children are you searching for, as i'm not offered this hotel when searching for your dates and 1room/2adults/2children.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
AaronJB Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 The Doubletree Chelsea is showing for $209 (an additional $10 off per night using 10WINTER) on Expedia when I search for 2/2 for these dates. I'm not seeing much of anything when I search for 2/2 on HOTWIRE for these dates. There are some options for Orbitz when searching for 2, although when one searches for more than 2 on Orbitz, that results in extra person fees being charged, as the guests beyond the first 2 are recognized on Orbitz as adults. Please use the site's Expedia, PRICELINE, HOTWIRE or Orbitz.com links.

Maybe I am going crazy! Thanks for looking, Robyn

AaronJB Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 I'm also seeing an Exec 2 doubles at the 4* Carlton on sale for $255 on Travelocity and the NY Helmsley for $199 on Travelocity. If you use coupon code NYC25HOTEL, that takes another $25 off the total. Please use the site's Travelocity link if either of these ideas are of interest.
mcmor7 Posted March 22, 2010 Author Report Posted March 22, 2010 Well, I decided to take a chance with PRICELINE and go for two rooms. I told my boys in advance that they may have to share a double bed! I am quite happy with the results - I got two rooms at the Hotel Roger Williams for $125 per night. I booked through the PRICELINE link on this site - Thanks for all the help!
AaronJB Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 Congratulations on your success! :)Good deal for this ESB boutique property! Glad you are pleased with the results - while not guaranteed, I'd try contacting the hotel to see if they can block off two rooms next to one another. They may not be able to, but it's worth a try.Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using the site's PRICELINE link.Enjoy your stay.
