Rhine-and-Roses Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 Has anyone any idea what hotel this could be? 5* in Istanbul for April 13-16 Restaurant, Business, HSIA? I know it's a long shot to ID, but maybe someone knows something? This is less than half the price of my current refundable reservation...
Romelle Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 I just noticed one can also bid Istanbul via Priceline (just up to 4*). PL retail side shows one 5* and six 4* offerings. The Hotwire 5* might be one of those. Doesn't narrow it down much, but just in case you haven't checked that out.Romelle
thereuare Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 Those amenities are common at just about every 5* 'city' hotel, so don't think we'll be able to gain much insight... where is your back-up reservation? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Rhine-and-Roses Posted March 20, 2010 Author Report Posted March 20, 2010 The back up is in Sultanamet. You can private message me for the name-don't want to post it (small hotel) and my dates. We have an ocean view room for about $200, with breakfast. The 5* is probably in the business district rather than the old city... I only saw a few hotels that might get a 5* (even by Hotwire standards) in the old city. Crowne Plaza, Ritz. I'm not willing to risk getting the business district, and the Istanbul area encompasses both. (But not the Asia side.) I just tried the Priceline suggestion- only found retail hotels, no opaque offerings. When you looked, Romelle, did you use my dates?
Romelle Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 That's funny. When I went in before, it would have let me bid. A map came up, and the list of available zones (4* was the highest). Perfectly normal bidding environment. I even clicked on the 4* box and it worked. Now I can't get back in the bidding area, just the retail area?? Reasonably sure I'm not nuts here. Something must have changed. I tried just IST and spelling it clear out, using the link here and going in directly. The map was one of those big marked areas, and there was a notation that the airport was within the city area. I did use your dates both this time and the prior time. If you are wanting to bid, I suppose you might brave the phone to PRICELINE? Puzzled,Romelle
Rhine-and-Roses Posted March 21, 2010 Author Report Posted March 21, 2010 That's happened to me, too. There would be a bidding page, then it would disappear- I think this happened in Strasbourg for me. I'll keep looking there, on the chance something might strike me. Thanks!
