gr8ful Posted March 19, 2010 Report Posted March 19, 2010 I have won Westin Harbour Castle in Toronto (East) with Hotwire. I phoned the hotel to request a king bed in the room, but they told me that because I booked with Hotwire they have us in a room with 2 double beds and I am not able to request a king bed until check in if there are any available at that time. Is this the usual? Is there any way around this?Thank you.gr8ful
gr8ful Posted March 19, 2010 Author Report Posted March 19, 2010 Very happy with the price and the hotel, after doing a bit of research on this site took a chance that it might be the Westin, but would have been happy anyway....interesting that this hotel is west of Yonge but listed in the East zone.Listed as Toronto Downtown EastAmmenities:Fitness, Restaurants, Business Center, High Speed Internet, Spa, Pool, Smoke FreeCalled the hotel to request king bed, but they say because it is a HOTWIRE booking, we are in a room with 2 doubles. I am hoping to be able to receive a king bed on arrival at no extra cost.
MrB Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 I have stayed at the Westin frequently on priceline/hotwire even though I actually live in Toronto (booked for friends, Xmas parties etc.). Unless I am mistaken, it is East of Yonge although not by much. For what it is worth I have had the most pleasant priceline/hotwire check-ins of any that I have ever experienced at this Westin with no mention of priceline at check-in etc.. They have also gone out of their way to find me the room that I wanted and now that all have been renovated there is no issue of pre or post renovation but I never had a problem (although Xmas may not be peak season) . Most like lakeview but I happen to like the most Northerly facing rooms which have a view facing both North and West (or East) of the Toronto downtown skyline (small windows admittedly but almost like having a mini-balcony). The Hotel is very nice although on the Lake (which can be a plus or minus depending on time of year) and I am confident you will enjoy your stay. There is also cheaper parking located next to the Hotel if that is a concern although no in/out privileges.
cappacino Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 I am going to be going to the Westin in Toronto. Will the hotel grant me a lake view room? ....and please .. Could someone, please, let me know the cheapest place to park my car. I don't mind walking a bit of a distance. Thanks
cappacino Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 Would you please let me know the cheapest place to park. Thank you so much.
gr8ful Posted March 20, 2010 Author Report Posted March 20, 2010 I will be happy to post the cheapest parking we find after our visit. We are not scheduled until the 27th.

yeah Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 Next to the Westin is a restaurant boat called Captain Johns. There are two parking lots next to Captain Johns that charge $10/day parking. These parking lots are closer to the Westin than the Westin's official parking lot (which cost $25 per day, if my memory is correct)You can also upgrade to a Lake View room, but it will cost an extra $10 - $20 / night.
gr8ful Posted April 6, 2010 Author Report Posted April 6, 2010 In closing...upgrade to king bed was complimentary and no problem at check-in. Parking lot next door at Captain John's was $10 dollars a day, but counted as 2 days from 3 pm until check out the next day at 10am. May have been better to just use valet for $25 for the stay.Upgrading to a lake view room is $30...and if you want a package that includes breakfast for 2 and the lakeview room it is $55.
