bolero Posted March 18, 2010 Report Posted March 18, 2010 Hi-I'm planning to stay in DC on 3/19-20, and looking at 3.5* dupont circle/embassy row hotel ($79/nite) with the following amenities:Smoke FreeRestaurantBusiness CenterHi-Speed InternetMy guess based on database is The Madera???My other other option is 4* same area ($109/nite) with these amenities:Fitness CenterPoolBusiness CenterHi-Speed InternetNo guesses on thatOR The Faifax at Embassy Row, currently $129 on HOTWIRE.Thanks in advance... recommendations appreciated.
thereuare Posted March 19, 2010 Report Posted March 19, 2010 The properties above have not yet been reported to the board...The 3.5* may be the Madera with a 'missing' Boutique icon, but with just the limited icons shown there could be other properties which fit as well. For the 4* i noticed it doesn't list a "restaurant" icon which would be odd for a 4* hotel, but i'd speculate that this property may be 'hidding' some of the amenities it is typically seen with. However, at just about the same price as the 4.5* property, not sure if it is worth pursuing. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide to do for this stay or if we can be of further help. bolero Posted March 19, 2010 Author Report Posted March 19, 2010 I took the 3.5* at $79/nite(hoping for the Madera) and it turned out to be the Westin, which, was a bit disappointing, since I was looking for a smaller hotel and one a bit closer to dupont circle. One of the reasons for choosing the 3.5* was that since it did not have exercise facility listed, I "assumed" it would be a smaller hotel. Fortunately I was able to change hotels by calling hotwire customer svc, and explained my "theory" regarding hotel size vs. exercise room. He "let" me rebid and I ended up at The Madison (4.5* at $114/nt.) which displayed the folowing amenities: Boutique hotel; exercise room;restaurant; business center; hi-speed internet; and spa. Thanks for the assistance..... the gentleman I spoke with from hotwire explained that the hotels at times do not list all their amenities, but was nice enough to grant me a "do-over".
AaronJB Posted March 19, 2010 Report Posted March 19, 2010 Congratulations on your success.I'm surprised that HOTWIRE allowed a refund, but glad to hear that things worked out well and you're happy with the result. Thanks for letting us know about the new HOTWIRE amenity set for the Westin so that we can update the site's Hotwire Hotel List for the state. Can you confirm which Westin location this was? Thanks.Thank you for sharing your win with the board. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay.
bolero Posted March 19, 2010 Author Report Posted March 19, 2010 Sorry... the 3.5* hotel I originally got was the Westin City Center....1400 M st. NW
